So what? To this day, Greg Norman looks after himself better than most current tour golfers. But he ceased being able to compete with them 25 years ago. All professional athletes have an expiry date.

Don't think I can take your analogy seriously. Greg is 70 and when he was last playing well, Carlton were still a force to be reckoned with. Scott is a AFL player who was playing well last year.

Pendles still has that uncanny ability to make opposition players enter the matrix when he has the ball. Even on a bad day, he still delivered some beautiful handpasses to teammates.

He just needs some quicker blokes around him than Lippa and Ned Long. Maybe Quaynor and McCreery can get a bit of a run in the midfield this year.

So, when do you think Pendles will start putting naked photos of himself on social media?

Whats the point of Pendles being in the square and getting exposed because it got a to point where they were abusing him on the spread. It wasn't a great look for him and that not this fault.

If the mids are going to get burnt anyway get the young guys in there and let them learn at least there is something gained from it.

Problem is we have added another slowie in Sullivan. Never thought it would be possible to get a slower team than last week. Pendles incidentally just happens to be the biggest slow coach of all which is not a criticism because he always had been but it seems that as age has caught up with him his opposition finds it much easier to leave him behind in a nanosecond. That means that we are getting pumped at centre square tussles.

I predict Pendles will prove you wrong.

Managing him through the year is just common sense. Hes not immortal
Agree. I've said on here before, I like him as sub, with his footy IQ watching the game unfold & then coming on. As opposed to a younger player who may just be sitting there getting nervous.

Sullivan goes out of the 22 anyway when Jordie and Mitchell return. Long just went past him last night as well. And Harvey Harrison is waiting in the wings longer term.

Pendles time will come and it might come sooner… but he will know. In the meantime utilising the sub bench is a great innovation to maximise his impact and possibly help his longevity. None of this has got anything however to do with Sullivan.

He probably will. In fairness to Boomer, he could have gone another season (or two) had the Kangaroos not delisted him.
I still can't reconcile that decision. A guy with the ability and professionalism to get himself up so consistently is an asset that is worth its weight in gold at any high-performing club. What a mentor opportunity for younger lads lost.

Harvey's last season: 500 disposals and 36 goals and he averaged nearly 90% game time in 23 games. He definitely didn't limp to finish line.

And they’ve essentially been a basket case since!

Yes - that decision, driven by Brad Scott, to get rid of Boomer while he was still one of their best, sent the club into a downward spiral - and pissed off most of their supporters. They have still not really recovered.

They lost 1000+ games of experience in 3 players that year, and all 3 were locks in their 22. Went a bit far in their cut

Accurate post.
Boomer was their best player at the time, by a street.
He had torn the Pies apart twice that year as well.
Scott showed him zero respect. Massive ego for a coach who is vanilla.
Even I was offended for Boomer
