I hope your comrades from the Adelaide Board don't read this ... otherwise you'll be banned!!!

Terrific appointment, long overdue. Funny how Stephen Williams leaves and Scott comes on board ... hey?

Heheh just let em... he's an out and out champion. It's just a shame for me that the club let him miss the 1989 members day - not to worry, at least I got a French Onion SAMBOY chip from Timmy Chinever [sic] :p

Am I missing something? Call me naive, but I didn't realize Stevo and Scotty had any major disagreements with one another. Please tell more.

In any case, Scotty's 1990 season rates as the greatest season I have seen by any (ANY) individual footy player at any level. His feats were mindboggling, in what was still a pretty vibrant and capable SANFL competition. The greatest letdown ever was his inability to translate it to AFL for whatever reasons.

I think the disagreement was more with another member of the Williams clan, but as they say, blood is thicker than water.

1. Rapid Bay: "Camp Crow"
2. Graham Cornes
3. Tony Modra
4. Compound fracture of his leg while with Port (SANFL)

He was just flatout unlucky as the cards never fell his way while with Adelaide, and then of course there was that freak gym-induced back injury during preseason with the Power in 1997.

He did show one true glimpse that he could do it at AFL level when he booted 11 or 12 against 1992 Grand Finallist Geelong at Football Park during that season, but was always unfairly maligned by many morons who support my club - probably through sheer jealousy, it must hurt seeing one man kick double your team's score off his own boot every week.

All-in-all I wonder if Scotty ever regrets turning down Collingwood's multi-million dollar offer to stay in Adelaide?

Scotty Hodges is, and always will be, a champion

Port people know their own, they know their champions, they know the sacrifices the players made in playing for our great club.

We know his heroics in all those finals, all of us can recount some game, some particular deed, that will forever engrave Scott Hodges name onto the Honour Board at Alberton.

One of my favourite memories of Scotty was when the Magpies were playing the Panthers in 1990, Scott was destroying every Panther even drifting near him, especially one Nigel Smart.

Scott could do no wrong that day, Smart didn't even know the definition of "doing something right".

Whenever I see Smart get all cocky, I can remember back to the day when Scotty ripped him an even number of new arseholes.

The 1994 GF ... that last quarter as we blew away the supposedly invincible eagles ... so much for the dynasty hey guys? Whenever I watch that on vid I still get a chill down my spine when Scotty takes a grab on the lead as we're about to hit the front and the roar of the crowd is so enormous it makes the walls of my living room shake. The tackle where he brought down Spehry and caught him holding the ball ... unforgettable. Poor old Spehry, his potential AFL career went down the gurgler in one quarter of football ....

Could anyone tell me of the link between Hodges and West Adelaide because he was at the '83 reunion dinner. I can't think of one off the top of my head.

First, Scotty.

Next, Spiro.

Wrong...

The 83 Westies team LOVED a beer. I can't understand for the life of me why he was there. Not that I cared just thought it was a little strange.

That's what i meant... the only similarity i can see is both the 83 West team & Scotty Hodges both have a liking for a few ales on the odd occassion.
