Agree cats2rise . It is going to be scary to think just how good Selwood will be by the time he gets to 100 games in years to come when most people play there best football. But I would have to say Bartel will still be ahead of his this time next year.

It still may be a one off thing.. He was not this good in 2003, 04, 05 and 06.

I do watch games, and I know he has improved, and I wonder if he will be this good again next season.

Its not that hard to comprehend, is it?

4 great players, adding Selwood to that list just makes it look all the more sweeter.

Selwood has been fantastic this year. It is common for 2nd year blues though. If he can get his improve even 10% on his last 2 months of football in 08, he will be an elite player in the AFL. Scary!

Hawkins, however, I see massive improvement from him next year. Lets hope he develops a big work ethic to go with his potential.

Selwood is much better than Judd was in his 1st year.

I think Selwood is more like Michael Voss. He is going to be an elite player providing injury doesn't cut him down. But I will say he is the best 1st year player we probably have ever had at the club.

If you compare Bartel and Selwood at this stage then of course Jimmeh is in front...I will wait a few years as these things are always better done retrospectively.

I hope we never see jimmy v joel as we have both and with these two and the others, GA Corey, Chapman, Ling, Stokes, Kelly and Wojo in our midfield we will be a top side for several more years.

Jimmy a great hard ball get player and will only get better, pretty good at the moment.

Selwood, he will be a 200 game player for us that has class stamped all over him

All I can say is I am glad we have both

Glad Selwood was passed over by six clubs so we got him, could turn out to be one of the best draft choices for us and worst non pick by those six clubs

Let's hope he's not a Ball - he's taken a dive this year IMO.

Totally agree there CF, I think others on here have tried to compare Selwood to what Bartel was in his first year. However we must remember that Bartel didn't really get a good run in his first year, unlike what Selwood is enjoying now.

Jnr was pretty much the same, wrapped up in cotton wool for a bit until they let him go.

I think Selwood has had a great opportunity, to play a lot of games, however I think he has totally risen to the occasion, showing his huge upswing in potential as a player and leader.

Without a doubt, he will be a club champion. He is THAT good.
