I found it curious that the league had set up barriers for the umpires race but not for the players rooms, nor was there any other security measure in place for those areas (that I could see anyway).

The MW fans that provoked the scuffle were dickheads - no doubt about it. Their club imposing a life ban on them wouldnt be a surprise. However, as a couple of others have said here, it is the league's responsibility to ensure that they've minimized the risks involved in staging a Grand Final and, with zero security in that vicinity at the time, that clearly didn't happen.

Banning or limiting the sale of alcohol is not the answer. As is usually the case with these types of incidents, it is only a small minority involved. Being able to have a drink at matches is one of the positives that this league has over the Amateurs. Punishing everyone for the actions of a small few doesn't make any sense.
 
Yeah, fair points. Just saying. I don't have a lot to do with him....but it does look bad because it seems to finish on him

Not for one moment suggesting that he started it, just pointing out that there will be so many twists and turns in this one.

It's hard enough in our area to attract players considering there are all of our clubs within 10-15kms of each other, the cash lure of Casey-Cardinia and SFL Div 1, the reputation of the SFL and now this, just makes a hard task even harder......

Yeah mate. But again, he was at no fault. We were actually standing at the fence where the players walk through, so the scuffle broke out right behind him. He was only trying to break up the scuffle. Yes he should have just stayed out completely, but he didn't. But he also DID NOT throw any punches.
This video was taken at the very end of the brawl.

Being at the game yesterday, something was bound to happen.
With the big flock of mount fans sitting behind the goals with there megaphone, yelling absolutely disgraceful language that nobody should be hearing, at opposition players and at what looked like some of the CPL under 19s (or juniors...) who also had a megaphone, who also used foul language to players on field.
The CPL 19's obviously couldn't handle their drinks that they had snuck in, drinking from McDonald's cups, and mount fans just their to get drunk and watch Gough kick a bag.
No security to be seen, no presidents from both clubs to be seen to tell their supporters to pull their heads in.
Not saying anyone from that area was apart of the incident, but I would not be surprised.

I know there was injuries because of the half time thing, but couldn't they finish the game and make it 16 players a side each or something like that. Just to get a result and finish the season. That way it might not made the newspapers and TV making the league you so bad. What a waste of a season for everyone in Div 3.

You are kidding aren't you. Yeah 16 on field playing but the same amount of drunk idiots watching ready to keep fighting. A recipe for an even greater disgrace. Imagine another half of grog going into them. No Mt Waverly do not win CPL win but get no flag or cup. Mt W banned from the league. Ridiculous post STT

Reason is the guys from mount on here are decent people and embarrassed by yesterday events.. Lucas has alot to answer for yesterday. CPL must make a call on his actions if the are fairdinkum about rubbing out on-field thugs. I hope young Beecroft is ok and not lost to the league. Fantastic kid and disgrace what happened.

Youre embarrassed? Really? all you did was can Lucas and tell CPL how to run their club. Starting to think there will be more buts from MW than the Philip Morris factory.

No one is saying that. As said they get banned 2 years and a number of drunk players as well. But im sure Barnsy recognises Lukey's role in all this. Imagine if young Beecroft did not get knocked out, the game would have continued to be the spectacle it was.

The game should not be called in favor of any team. Make it null and void.

Then the SFL works to eradicate the seedy elements and the so called entitlements to superiority that Mount think they are deserved. They are no better than any other team in the division, so when they are trying to take the high ground on supporter and player behavior they need only look back at 2014.

The black eye of Div 3 when it was supposed to be a day to celebrate the best teams.
 
ok guys a bit over this gf controversy lets talk about the elephant in the room.....mt waverley's post match celebrations.

I have allot of questions regarding this and feel mount Waverley should explain themselves.

first off who brought this to the group and how was the presentation put forward? he must be the best salesman in the world!

second...how much rehearsal and preperation went into the "routine" and does it change year on year?

thirdly who was chosen to lead the clapping rockasteford after each win and is this person regarder as a vetran and holds the responsibility in high regard?

fourthly who hides the fact from the playing group that it is the most rediculous post match celebration of all time?

fifthly was there a grand final version ready to be unveiled on the day and is it possible to get a dvd...because I feel robbed!
 
Plenty of worse comps in the bush. We have a way to go to catch up to other metro leagues and yesterdays events are a few steps back, but the league will sort it out and those responsible will be punished. Simple as that.
