Was hoping a few people from div 1 teams would be willing to share rego fees for 25/26 seasons. A friend of mine from Murrumbeena has told me their subs for 1s/2s ($600 in 2025) are going up to $650 in 2026. What is the usual rego fee for div 1 and does 650 seem a bit much?

Holy shit!!!! 650 dollars
I think it's a bit steep for the ressies who play for the love of the game, but even for the seniors who get paid it seems a bit much. I'd love to know what other clubs charge in comparison. I do understand it can change with club income from sales, functions etc.
League also seem to be upping the price they charge as well. $400 for 3rds as well!

I remember when I played years ago, I don't reckon I paid more than $300 a season! in SFNL
$300-500 but $650 is insane! Wouldn’t wanna be paying that much no matter how much I love this game.

Can almost bet that the paid players won't take a slight pay cut to share the love a bit with those who don't to help them out a bit. Feel for those who play for the love of the game/club.

Ammo clubs would be around the $600 areas
St Bedes was 600 last year, most Sfnl lower div clubs are in the 400-500 range some even charge trainer fees on top of that each week

The club I play at breaks down what it costs to put players on the ground - clubs aren’t making money off the fees, massively subsiding. It’s not just SFNL fees it’s trainer, medical, grounds and cleaning and all the other stuff.
Too many players want to just turn up, play and leave and it’s left to volunteers to fundraise to bridge the gap.

Trainer fees are a killer for most clubs, for every player it basically takes a volunteer

Clubs don’t usually make money off subs, $650 is a lot of money and is on the higher end but it isn’t outrageous especially for Division 1 southern or premier A or B in VAFA. Most clubs give concessions for students or low income earners.
League fees have gone up astronomically from filming games, the cost of umpires and overpaid executives at HQ.

I've been the treasurer at St Pauls for a bit now and $600 is reasonable for Div 1 clubs considering the cost to run a club these days.
League fees are up, trainer costs are higher than they have ever been to get quality trained people in (no longer any volunteers doing these roles).
Strapping, coaches, players etc.
We did our reserves at $300 for 2025 (and likely do same in 2026) but that is because we are trying to develop the depth again in our second team as it's been very thin for the last 2 - 4 years.
We offer discounts for students and anyone who is having financial difficulties.
Typical DIV 1 expenditure is around $250k - 300k per season, so have to try and get $ from sponsorship, subs and functions being the main 3 areas plus then bar/canteen.

All it takes is for 1 - 2 key sponsors to pull their funding from a club and you'd find there would be huge revenue gaps that can't be filled which isn't ideal. Most clubs are trying to move to a sustainable model where they aren't as reliant on so few

Is cutting all comps salary cap an answer and yes i know those that will abuse it

I think so Bedford. The money that’s thrown around currently is astonishing.
Has to be state wide too.
Instead of just punishing clubs for breaching salary caps I’d introduce a minimum 5 year ban from playing footy to any players involved. Might make a few blokes question taking that extra cash payments and sign ons.

I'm astonished at the $$ that is paid in local footy these days. i hate to be that guy talking about the good ol days but we would have been lucky to have 5 - 6 paid players, the rest we tried to get jobs for etc but they still had to work for their money. We just used club connections to help them out in their lives and it was accepted as reasonable.
And you were paying Ammo players 400 a game last year
