There comes a moment in a game where you just can't chest down the pill from a cross.. having it land at your feet.. and just lay it off to your team mate.. mate.. you've gotta go for the bicycle kick re Bucks.. 3 qrts of the same predictable s**t mate.. fancy having a player of Moore's ilk just sitting back and watching it all unfold.. chaffing at the bit to change the course of the game.. but under strict instructions to stay poot re.
Sounds like you are back to blaming Bucks.
Disappointing

I just don't think he's good enough a coach.. Cantona didn't win games off his own boot cause he followed protocol like Moore. Ferguson didn't coach Cantona. Trust. Let him decide when it was time in a game where the battle could be won.. or at least change the course of it.

The game was lost in the box.

Moore's being instructed to get the pill.. run along the boundary.. and bomb it down the line.. it was only when the game was really going down the s bend that Moore bombed in into the guts.. this is where we are getting it wrong.. Moore no doubt can see what was happening there in the 1st and 2nd.. he coulda changed the course of the game by bombing it in the guts.. creates confusion and a bit of a mess and it has there forwards and mids thinking.. 'well f me.. that came out of the blue.. he might do it again'.. but same ol shit.. None of that happened.

If a poker player plays the same ol style of game in a tournament.. without throwing hail Mary's here and there.. not gonna get very far.. you throw hail Mary's.. your opponents really don't know what you're gonna do next.. what they don't know.. is that you've kept your shit together.. you're playing em with your lil finger.. and you're setting em for the fall.

Buckley is a fish of a poker player.

He’s clearly a good enough coach, given the evidence of the past two seasons. We are close, but haven’t been able to realise the full potential of the list because of injury.

It’s got nothing to do with Cantona.

Structures and role playing and s**t.. great right.. what we lack under a Buckley.. is intuition. Just someone to grab the bull by the horns in big moments. Some one brave enough to break from the phalanx when s**t ain't going right and say 'f this'.. I'm going for it.. seizing the moment.

Eg.. things are going to s**t in a game of football.. Moore/Crisp talking to his compadres down back.. saying s**t like.. 'we're in a spot of bother here.. I'm going in lads'.. so the bloke runs into the guts.. or makes a 100 meter run down the wing into the forward 50 for the opportunity to snag a sausage roll.

We went about our business for 3 qrts under stricked instructions to play a certain style and stick to it.

Understand where the game is at.. that's not your choice Buckley.. players discretion mate..

We should have won this game.. we are so bloody regimented under Buckley though. Just so predictable.

Yes - you're right Buckley told the players to forget the ground ball and clearances, and focus on other stats --- oh wait we lost virtually all of them as well.

We had a very bad day as the stats show - nothing to do with Buckley.

And was it a coincidence that when the rain stopped we dominated?

For every undisciplined genius like Cantona there are undisciplined flogs.

But a disciplined GENIUS - now that's what every coach and team wants.
eg. Abbett, Pendles, Fyffe

I don't think so.. far too many egs of Bucks handing the opposition coach the Collingwood play book.. I can almost guarantee ya that Cameron's instructions to his players were.. 'this is what Collingwood is going to do today.. and they ain't budging.. now go for it'.

Theres no magic no stupidity no left field no craziness.. no silliness.. no dizziness.. in Buckley's coaching. Players can't play against something they can't see coming.. coaches can't coach against something they can't see coming. They're not frightened of the what ifs coming from a Buckley coached side.

The reality of the gws game is this.. we had de goey out.. who did they have out.. 5 out and out stars!

Regardless of how we got there.. at that point in time.. they were in a far off worse position than us.

And we got mauled.

And Buckley signed off on it.

I agree with BringouttheGimp. Buckley isn’t a good enough coach.

If you told us at the start of the game that Davis would be injured within the first 10 minutes, you would have been thanking the heavens.

For the rest of my life I’ll be shocked that we let Nick Haynes roam around free in the backline. Posters will say “we had the extra at the stoppage”, and what happened there? Nothing. We still got beat.

I was screaming across the fence for someone to stay on Nick Haynes.

If you were coaching against GWS, you man up on Haynes and Davis. It’s honestly not rocket science.

A good coach doesn’t get beat by something you already know. Bucks knew that the Giants were using Haynes as the extra, yet he allowed him to beat us.

i think the question will need to be asked now, where does the improvement come from. do we roll the dice for one more shot with Pendles/beams/sidebottom and maybe Grundy*

Dunn / Wells / Varcoe / Reid / Mayne / Cox / Pendles / Beams / Sidebottom / roughhead / goldsack / greenwood either gone or going in the next 2- 3 years due to age.

in my opinion Thomas / Daicos /Crocker / aish and magden to make the grade. so that's 17 players gone in the next couple of years. for mine that's a rebuild.

This has the new makings of a thread that resembles every other player's thread that everyone launches in to.. why is Buckley so off limits?
Maybe you could organise a protest march.

Pendles may be getting on, but was still AA this year. Sidey had an off year.

I think Sidey can still use his endurance to beat players running back to goal. Needs to play more that high half forward role and get to our goal line rather than that wing position that pushes him deep in defence.

Pendles can play that extra midfielder role. We don’t need him to be behind the ball, we need him to be the plus one around the contest so he can create.

Treloar needs to be moved into space. He should be receiving the first handball and break a line as opposed to going in and winning it and dishing off- that’s what Adams is for.

Still would like some outside pace through the middle.

I think Sidey had a very good year. I think he's just getting judged harshly because it was down on his 2018.

You’re probably right. I felt that I didn’t notice his impact in games as much as last year. After a great 2018, I had him as a Brownlow chance, but that quickly disappeared in my eyes

No nearly as shattered this year as last. Last quarter was really exciting.

I’m useless at predicting this kind of stuff, too many variables I think, but feel we’ll be up there again next year.

A lot depends on getting our attacking game going. I think our defence will be league best, rough, Moore, Langdon, Scharenberg, Greenwood, Aish, crisp, Howe, Maynard, to choose from, don’t think you’ll find a better mix than that.

Midfield is good enough to get the job done, maybe needs to work on it’s defence and stoppage work but no dramatic changes required.

Forward line didn’t quite work 2nd half of the season. There’s enough talent but no real stand out big man to structure around. A lot rests on the shoulders of big Cox I think.

Anyway, I’ll be there, looking forward to it. Some important milestones we could reach:

- getting a positive win/loss record against Carlton (or did we reach that this season?)
- Pendlebury getting the most games played record.
- DeGoey (nuff said)

Carn Pies!
