Would be great to take a risk at pick #6 if we don't get Hurley we need Shaun he can play chb or chf meant to be like his brother even better some say if we don't take hurley this is our man imo

thoughts??

I feel there are better options at 6. TBH is more of a ruckman.

Pretty sure he would ruck full-time at AFL, even though he has a nice leap, 196cm isn't tall enough these days. Might pinch hit a little around the ground though.

Personally don't know what his position will be at AFL level. To me he isn't a natural CHB or CHF and as i said, even though spent most of his time in the ruck at TAC Cup level, can't see him playing there in the future. He is very athletic which will be very attractive to teams and i could envision him becoming a Drew Petrie type player. Someone that will pinch hit where needed doing a solid job.

Wouldn't think we'd take him. Even if Hurley isn't their, there will still be better available players for mine.

Just what i've picked up from the games i've seen him play. I'm sure Gilly/HBF/TGR have seen a little more, maybe they can give a little more input but i wouldn't think about using pick 6 on him TBH.

Think he could possibly turn into a pretty mobile FF, given the way he reads the play, and has a nice set of hands. But like you say, suggest there might be a few better options at #6 than McKernan.

Pass, if he is anything like his brother we should give him a very wide berth, once bitten twice shy.

Corey won a Brownlow medal. Just about. He was a total gun.

I'm not really sure his brother was THAT good? When really confident he palyed some good footy for North. But more often than not, after his stella year he failed to "show up". He didn't for the Blues!
I'm not sure if a brother to brother means much but if he has the same idioscroncies as his elder brother let's pass on him. Ditto for Hartlett!!

No thanks. Short ruckmen just can't cut it these days. He has played ruck all his life, turning him into a permanent KPP may not work.

Much better CHF options available instead of him at pick #6.

He did win a B&F before he capitulated.

And it's idiotic to pass up on Hartlett b/c of his older brother. One's a tall forward with bung hamstring, the other's a midfielder who oozes class.

We'll be taking the best available player who's left, as said by (I'm sure it was) Ratts himself. Shaun McKernan will not be the best player left in the group.

Move along. :thumbsu:

McKernan will be a great CHF. i see him as the perfect replacement for Kennedy and with his size he will ready to go next year. vickery would be my first pick but wont be there at pick 6. i also like Johnson he has a strut and arrogance of carlton of old and im really starting to warm to the idea of Trengrove at pick 6.

Wish we had another pick in the first round to pick up Johnston or Mckernan but the two probably do not deserve to be picked in the top 10.

The descriptions of him being too short to ruck but not having a set position make him sound like Sellar...I'd be interested to read what Pafloyul has to say about McKernan.

Trengove would be better value for you guys if he were still to be available. His last year was all as good as Rich's, playing against guys like Mcevoy and Kreuzer as an underager in the TAC Cup, often giving a good contest if not beating these players around the ground. Can play KP back or forward and has played a fair bit of ruck.

Fair call - although i still rate McKernan very highly. However, neither will be at Carlton next year i'd have thought. Hurley, the big Z, Harts or Yarran would be the likely spread.

A few months back I was keen on McKernan at 6 but I've cooled on him because I don't think it'll happen.

He's the perfect size for a key forward so I don't buy into the argument that he's an in-between height. Sure, he's too small to make it as a ruckman in the AFL these days but I think he'll make it as a key forward.

I wouldn't mind seeing him at Carlton next year but for mine, pick 6 is too early. I'd prefer any of Hurley, Ziebell, Hartlett, Sidebottom to McKernan and some of those players will definitely be around at pick 6.

I'd probably take McKernan over Yarran.

McKernan will go to a team picking after us that needs a tall forward. I have a feeling that Richmond might take him at 8, but if not Adelaide at 10 or Sydney at 12 would be real possibilities.

Don't see him slipping out of the first round to be honest.

Yeah true. After hardly having a kick for the first half of the year and not even registering a possession one game in one of the worst Carlton sides ever !

I have been thinking bout him for a few mnths. Fox showed Vic Country (????) against WA a few mnths ago. He more than held his own against Nic Nat and had a pretty good set of hands for his age.

But I think he is a project player and for that reason will go at 12 and Roos will turn him into a star in 3-4 yrs
