Ch10 news snippet. Wants Selwood as first captain and would louch tough man Rooke to keep the four selwood brothers in check

Louch??

I remember Sheedy wanting Kelly too when he was at Essendon. Didn't get his man then, and I hope he doesn't this time round either.

hmm, i'd be very surprised if rooke will be playing in 2012. strikes me as a guy who'll struggle beyond 30.

as much as i'd hate to see our guys end their careers at other clubs, i'd almost be happy if we could get a third round pick for guys like that with perhaps only a year to go.

I louch em all, louch those Catters..

To Sheedy whatever champ noone cares what/who you want. It won't happen. Harleys there though.. might have an influence..

Anyway Louch those Cats..

Harley and the other personnel will be running the shop at GWS. Sheedy was put there because of his name only. Good move though because he is high profile and statements such as this will lift the profile of the club. There will be the odd player such as Rooke to move up in their twilight years but I doubt the cats would let Selwood go.

i'd hope the only influence that harley would have is in geelong's best interest...

I'm sure Sheedy would also like Riewoldt, Franklin, Judd, Cox and Pendlebury. Doesn't mean he will get them.

I have concerns that Gaz will leave, but I don't think there's a chance in hell Selwood will go. Even if he misses out on the captaincy this time around, I have no doubt that there will be a plan put in place to see Joel as the long term captain of GFC.

Take no notice of the shit that dribbles out of Sheedys mouth. He's just trying to get a headline.

Exactly. It was bad enough when we had to listen to his insanity when he was a coach. Now he isn't there is no need to pay attention to his ramblings whatsoever.

Also, among the things I would like, are endless wealth, a villa in the South of France, filled with nubile temptresses of flexible moral persuasion. Doesn't mean it's going to happen though. :D

I already hate Gold Coast and Western Sydney.

Even if they don't manage to poach our players just for the stress it creates
thinking we might lose some of our guns.

Plus the inflationary effect on star player's salaries. Not good. Really badly thought out by Vlad the Impaler.
All that will happen is that a few clubs will lose gun marquee players and go to a club that doesn't have a hope in hell of winning a flag while they are there.
Everyone loses.
In the NBA new franchises come in and they don't get any help other than the normal Draft Lottery system.
Typical socialistic engineering from the AFL.

Nice compliment for Rooke - who wouldn't want him? I'm with Pinion though in that I don't think Rooke will have a long career in footy, I suspect he is the sort of guy who will get itchy feet to do other projects.

IMO, the risk of Ablett leaving is small. His financial interests in and around Geelong a very convoluted, and I reckon Frank engineered this to make it worth his while staying.

Tiger got it.

I believe he is to the the new star of Man Vs Wild. But when Max Rooke is on the tough and hard terrain gets put near Max Rooke and they have to try and get away from him without dying.

yes just a friendly reminder that after we fight of the upcoming raid from the GC, GWS will be coming to try tempt our stars away. All we can hope is that contracts are in the bag soon. I don't blame Sheeds for wanting Selwood & Rooke as any team would want them. But it worries me that these new clubs are going to rip the heart and soul out of our team because they have the salary cap to do so. Tough times ahead for Balmey and the crew trying to keep this team together.

I think it comes down to the fact that who the hell would want to live in Sydney let alone west Sydney. :thumbsd:
I reakon Balmey & co. have a plan laid out for the 5 or so years with all the players we have currently, and "spots" for the new guys (X onto the seniors list, keep X maybe trade Y etc). That's why I reakon Milburn and Mojo were able to go around again, hyper managed list.

I dont think that you will lose both Ablett and Selwood because both players would like to stay at the club and if one would leave for the extra money then you could offer the other player considerably more than if both stay and this should be enough to get him to stay.

sure, but don't they also have free-agency in place, which pretty much achieves the same result?

Yes they do, but David Stern is not ACTIVELY manipulating the system to disadvantage existing teams. Can you imagine OKC being given an extra 20mill in the salary cap so they could offer Kobe or Lebron 35mill a year which Lakers and Cleveland couldn't possibly match?

Hope Harley does the right thing and guides Sheedy in the Hawthorn direction

Im sure Buddy would love Sydney

Bite your tongue - we can't give away our cult hero. It will be a sad, sad day at Catland when Maxxy retires.
