Anyone see the article on HFC website? Looks like he is moving back to NZ to explore his opportunities in Union.

Probably a good thing - never thought he would make it.

Interestingly the article has been removed from our website now so may have it wrong.

Disappointing, but easier to stick with what you know and what you are good at (especially as he was a little bit back in the pack, and had a body size which doesn't suit modern AFL).

Did a great job improving as much as he did.

Good luck Shem with whatever you do.

Really disappointed in this. I know it was high risk/high reward, but everything I was reading coming out of the BHH forum and online indicated this guy, though there was still work to do, had a real shot at making.

All the best for the future Shem. I hope you don't look back on this and think "what if".

Wow. Sad that we invested so much in him for him not to stick it out.

I wonder if he'd got a game in the NAB would that have driven him for another year or not...

That is unlikely to have affected anything.

Shem really did roll his ankle prior to the Carlton NAB cup game and so could not play. For the second game he could have been a maybe depending on their assessment of the ankle. It was unlikely that he would have played in the last game as we moved towards a full strength side.

Now the knives come out for Shem

Atleast Shem and the Club had a go

Knives coming out, what are you on about, the kid was always up against it coming from a different back ground like Hunt and Falou.

Good on him for having a crack but I doubt he would have ever been able to have consistent impact at AFL level and you have to wonder whether his heart/mind was ever truly in it, again like Hunt and Falou in particular.

Sorry I'm not here blowing wind up his backside for the sake of it.

Well, if nothing else, he gave some of our supporters something to dream about.

I wish him all the very best in whatever he chooses to do now.

Shame (shem?). He had the talent to become a decent player down the track. Oh well. All the best to him.

From a club standpoint it could have been worse. At least its only a rookie leaving (despite the investment in time and effort they've made with shem).

I'm a (Conor) glass half full kind of guy.
