Shocking news!

The Herald Sun reported today that 2 WCE players were warned by police not to associate themselves with a well known Perth night club drug trafficer! Those two boys were also apparently warned to stop using cocaine WCE officials were informed of this and sent the two players to councelling.

This happened about 2 years ago, and the names of the players were never revealed. In fact, the incident wasn't even reported to the AFL.

Anyone have any idea of who it may have been? Because I'm shocked. How can someone who relies on their body to perform their job go about destroying it with drugs??

West Coast officials are apparently furious about the report (and rightly so) and are denying any knowledge of any police report.

It made the Sunday Times front page here in WA.

You will be surprised to hear I hope it isn't true, but surely if Ch Ten are saying in public that 2 players were caught buying cocaine, if it isn't true then the Club &/or players can sue them.
Would Ten be willing to take that chance, anyway guess we will have to wait for an hour & a bit to find out what Ten are on about.

West Coast Eagles Chief Executive Trevor Nisbett today issued the following statement in response to a story published in Perth and Melbourne today.

"The West Coast Eagles are extremely disappointed with a front page story in the Sunday Times and the Sunday Herald Sun this morning and the club strongly defends its players over these allegations," Mr Nisbett said.

"We are unaware of any official being contacted last year by a Perth detective, however there has been rumour and innuendo circulating the Australian football community for several months and it is time to put an end to this hurtful speculation.

"The Australian Football League has one of the most stringent drug policies and education programs in world sport and we are very supportive of that policy.

"ASDA tests our players on a regular basis, both in season and during pre-season, on match day and at training. We are very confident in those testing procedures and our players would welcome further testing if it was thought necessary."

There will be no further comment to be made on this issue from any person employed by the West Coast Eagles Football Club.

Sounds like someone's still hurting from that loss a couple a weeks ago.

From what I've read, the Sunday Times are saying that Police reported the supposed incident to WCE officials. The WCE are however denying that they ever recieved a police report.

One of them is lying. And with the Slimes reputation of shoddy journalism, I wouldn't be surprised if it was them.

I'm not saying that I'm correct, it's just my opinion.

But i really dont have any idea on the situation, as AFL coverage in Sydney is average at best, so can you please keep me posted.

I've come up with one reason that makes me a bit skeptical about the report.

The herald sun comes up with all sorts of accusations, but no real evidence to support it. That is, no police report, no credible authority to back them up, no real details. For all we know the journalist found this information out at a footy forum (ala Bigfooty).



I do however have more damning reasons to believe there is some truth to this. There have been a string of incidents at the club in the past. Eg: Nick Stone using recreational drugs, Chad Rintoul assaulting a driver after drinking too much (might have been drugs??) as well as numerous off-season incidents in which players were misbehaving due to alcohol (drugs again??).

Hopefully with woosha at the helm this will all stop. Especially since he's a pharmacist, so he would know exactly how these drugs effect people and will spot users much easier.

However, we must stand by the club and believe that they're "innocent until proven guilty". Right now there's no evidence to support the news reports.

Neither shocking nor news

May I first of all say that drugs are very bad for you and you shouldn't get addicted to them because it can stuff up your entire life and ruin your relationships with friends and family.

Having said that, I'd also like to say that the Sunday Times is a disgrace, which is why I never buy it.

This is not news because it allegedly happened 2 years ago. Perhaps in the interest of balance, the Slimes should have headlines like "Cathy Freeman wins Olympic Gold Medal" or "People get drunk and enjoy themselves at Millenium Parties".

This is old news that has been dealt with by the club already. For those that read gossip on the internet, it was widely reported 2 off seasons ago that 2 well-known Eagles players were taking drugs on holiday in Amsterdam. I could name them, but I won't because I don't know if it's true.

It's not shocking to me because if you pay young people enormous amounts of money and treat them like heroes, a small number will go off the rails and take drugs and generally take advantage of their position. This may have happened in this case.

My perception is this. As soon as Mick left, the discipline in the club went downhill something shocking. The rape allegations, the fact that groups of young players would go out to clubs and drink themselves stupid on a regular basis, Scott Cummings's behaviour and the drugs rumours are evidence that under Suzi's mate's "leadership", the Eagles team were a rabble. It showed on the pitch.

Frankly, under Judge, the players may have taken drugs, but they weren't performance-enhancing. It's a miracle that the supporters weren't all on painkillers.

Now that Woosha is back, he will instil discipline into the players and make them a professional unit again. It's already happening. We can see it.

So the WCE have two players experimenting with drugs two years ago and they come up this cr@p as current news ? Forgive me if I offend anyone but this is one of the reasons I lost my respect for what they call nowadays as "journalism". Malthouse was right! The media is highly manipulative and lie constantly! Or if they don't lie they tell half truths or recycle old news making them look like new news ! The media can do anything they like and threats of legal proceedings don't worry them. First they have almost unlimited resources to fight anyone or any organization on court and second if they're sued they are also assured constant manipulative "news" holding the attention of a growing audience which in turn will attract more advertisers and therefore more revenue. It's a win win situation for them. That's why in my opinion they can't be trusted, not even on things that look like an absolute truth. They have the meanings and the equipment to fabricate news. Just like Hollywood, special effects is their speciality.

There is an explosion in the combustion chamber which releases pressures that move the pistons.........no fire. However if your engine does set on fire you will know all about it.
