It's been forgotten for 2 year already hasn't it.
I find it sorta strange that all this will come about now, rather than when it actually happened.
After the Lewis claims, are the AFL trying to use the eagles and these players as scapegoats, trying to show the public that they are cleaning up the "drug problem" that exists in the AFL.

It seems a bit dodgy to me.

I'll second that. I am so devastated that the West Coast has come up at all. Its bad enough that we never get a mention in Melbourne and when we do its usually bad press.

My ex-boyfriend had been on a boat trip with Kizon (can appreciate why he's now an ex huh?)...his reach extends long and far and I find it absolutely dispictable that his name has even been ASSOCIATED and mentioned in the same sentence as they club that I love.

Eagles Stars revealed

Crime figure link to West Coast players

One of Australia's most colourful crime identities said yesterday that he had a relationship with two star West Coast players, but that it was "purely social" and not business related.

Police observed John Kizon, a convicted heroin trafficker, and players Ben Cousins and Michael Gardiner, socialising together in Melbourne during Grand Final week last year.

Police surveillance officers reported the three men were seen at Crown Casino at the same time and were "obviously friends".

Mr Kizon yesterday released a statement to The Age, through his lawyer, George Defteros. "He knows the two players on a social basis as he knows a lot of sportsmen in Perth," Mr Defteros said.

"It was purely coincidental that he was at the (Crown) hotel at the same time as they were."

Cousins and Gardiner were in Melbourne to attend the Brownlow, which was held at the Crown complex. The two were seen drinking with Mr Kizon at Fidel's Cigar Bar later that night.

Police who saw the meetings between the players and Mr Kizon said they observed no illegal activities but some experienced football figures have questioned the wisdom of the relationship.

It is understood a senior West Coast Eagles official was warned early this year by a leading player manager about Mr Kizon's close relationship with some of his players.

Despite the warnings, the players do not appear to have distanced themselves from the controversial figure. After the Eagles-Carlton Wizard Cup game last month Cousins and Gardiner were seen with some of Mr Kizon's Victorian associates in a five-star Melbourne hotel.

In a separate WA police investigation, two unnamed Eagles players have been identified as visiting a suspected Perth ecstasy dealer. The players have not been charged with any criminal offences. The investigation is not related to Mr Kizon.
