Like AFDogs I struggled through Ep 1 four times until I cracked it finally and it was no looking back
I think what I enjoyed was the dialogue in crucial scenes. It was not rushed but allowed to play out and give it the time and space to sink in which reminded me of the early seasons of GoT.
Filming for S02 starts in Jan 2026 so hopefully as mentioned above, they have managed to build a story that holds true to S01.
I remember watching the original on VHS back in Year 8. I wasn't allowed to watch it when it first aired because it ran too late on school nights so when it was replayed the old VHS was used to record and watch over the weekends. Dont ask me what I remember of it, it was 40 odd years ago
(As an aside, I wish the streamers would also turn their attention to Indian-British era of history.)

The show inspired me to go back to Japan late last year and it was a great trip so many thanks to Shogun indeed.
