‘Name another sport where players have to stand still like statues.’

The other major football code in Australia does it hundreds of times a game.

You asked, you received.
Wrong. The examples listed the player was still performing an act and moving. In rugby they crouch and push and have a purpose.
The stand rule is about standing like a statue and pretending to not being part of the game.
The Hocking stand rule will be remembered with the same reverence as AFLX imo.

Interchange Reduction:
The number of permitted interchanges was reduced from 90 to 75 per match, aiming to increase fatigue and encourage players to play with more space.
"Man on the Mark" Rule:
Players standing the mark are now required to remain stationary after the umpire calls "stand," with any lateral movement (outside a one-meter tolerance) resulting in a 50-meter penalty.
Kick-In Space:
Players taking a kick-in after a behind are now afforded a 15-meter space from the opponent on the mark, an increase from the previous 10 meters.
Increased Space for Kicks:
Players are now given more space to take their kick after marking or receiving a free kick deep in defense.
Other Changes:
AFL has also allowed for around-the-body set shots after the siren, permitted players to play on after a 50-meter penalty, and relaxed the interpretation of hands-in-the-back at marking contests and prior opportunity at ruck contests.
These changes were implemented with the goal of creating more space on the field, encouraging attacking play, and allowing players to play with more instinct. While some coaches have expressed concerns, particularly regarding the impact on defensive strategies, the AFL has generally maintained that the changes are aimed at enhancing the spectacle of the game.
You left out one:

No they stand there. The markers can’t be involved in play, or move, until the ball is involved in play once more.

You asked, you got told.

Again you come bumbling along looking to make an excuse and cry about something: get over it and stop looking like a fool.

What sport are you talking about?

What sport are you talking about?

Rugby league. The sport I told you about when you said ‘name another sport where players have to stand like statues’ and I said ‘the other major football code in Australia’ and even at one point used the abbreviation ‘NRL’ and described terms like ‘Markers.’

You don’t pay very close attention for someone who is allegedly seeking answers to these questions.

You can crouch on the mark in AFL. 🤔

Ok I'll give you that one but I think that rule has been around for 100 years . The other 120 sports don't have a stand rule.

No, it hasn’t. Yes there have been markers for the entirety of the game but in days gone by the marker used to be able to strike at the ball with his foot and contest for possession while the tackled player was playing the ball back to the dummy half. In 1997 that was phased out of the game.

You aren’t very good at this.

Even if they did, doing something just because other sports do it is part of the problem with the idiotic rule changes they've introduced in recent years.

Footy is just fine by itself. It's not basketball (thank fecking Christ), it's not rugby, it's not American football (thank Christ again), and it's not soccer. It doesn't need arbitrary rule changes, and I can't think of one that has improved the game. Not one.

All you need to do is leave the game alone, and the players and coaches will evolve and work out every perceived problem. As they always have.

Wrong analogy
In other words, there are plenty of sports where the person with or without the ball has to stand on the spot while an action is performed.

Are you new to standing? Are you the type of person who can't help shuffling themselves through to the front of a line? I bet you hate those scanners at the airport. Standing is just the absolute worst. :(

So you like the stand rule?
