as long as he serves it during the season :D, seriously though the courts are way too weak on this shit, i wouldnt be happy if someone caved my face in during work and got off with a bond or something, thats all that'll happen though, swan did worse and basicly got off, from a criminal conviction anyway.

Wasn't aware the carlton key position players attended Essendon training. Wouldnt be a bad idea for their careers though. With the right coaching you can make even no talent players effective.

I see the Bomber supporters are again skirting the question. Would be nice to have their opinion on an apt punishment should Hurley be found guilty.

I don't have a law degree or a clear set of facts. Word is they are going not guilty and that the driver gave as good as he got.

Didn't David Neitz got involved in a taxi incident a few years back?

No-one has a clear set of facts which is why the question was worded "if found guilty".

TBH if it was a Melbourne player I'd be VERY disappointed right now and if guilty would expect them to throw the book at him. Perhaps a suspended sentence at this stage would be adequate.

I just hope he is treated the same as any other citizen and the fact he's an AFL player doesn't weigh into it at all. This works both ways as I would also hope Essendon keep him on the list with a stern warning about any future offences but it shouldn't affect his employment. He's young and hopefully learnt his lesson.

Now, again, what's your opinion?

Assuming its a first offence and the injuries were minor. I imagine it would be pretty hard to feel comfortable at work after being assaulted regardless of how minor it may seem to some. The effects could be significant to his livelihood and life.
 
This is obviously all hypothetical because actual cases involve facts, of which we are not privy to.

You got my answere based on what has been reported and the hypothetical question, the rest is just speculation.

I have no idea how comfortable the guy is at work or how it effected his life and livelihood. Just like we dont know for sure if the driver threw the first punch.

How often do you reckon taxi drivers take a swing at a customer without provocation? Especially one Hurleys size? Understand you're sticking up for your boy and this is all speculation, best to wait for the courts to resolve, but I'm pretty sure he's not an innocent in all this.

(I'm assuming it's a relativly minor assault, otherwise essendon/media would've gone crazy)

I'm simply musing here so no one take this as fact.

Yet the driver knew of his intention to get food before he pulled over and allowed Hurley out, from what I've heard the driver grew worried then decided to persue Hurley.

A kick in the groin and a punch to the face (although there have been reports that Hurley merely knocked his turban off). The driver received minor injuries.

Sure, trying to get paid for services provided. That's how it normally works, unless of course you're an arrogant spoilt child who thinks he doesn't have to pay for anything and uses physical intimidation to solve their problems.

Just adding to the debate :)
 
Is it too much to ask for the level of guilt to be decided before we decide on sentencing. Would really prefer to make my decision based on some more information.
