Your life sounds pretty terrible if a game of football has that effect on you. You should seek therapy.
CENTRALS ARE NOT EVEN AS PISSED AS I AM!

Why are most people on here so positive and not p!ssed off? I seriously don't understand it, I barely got any sleep.
I understand they are our biggest rivals and a loss against your rival in any sport should sting, so I don't begrudge any Port fans who are hurting from last night's result.

Personally, I'm past the point of treating a win against them like a Grand Final, as that sees me live in a perpetual state of mediocrity, which isn't the Port Adelaide that I grew up supporting. Would have l liked us to win last night's game? of course. Do I think Josh and his team will take huge learnings from it, which will grow us in the long run? Yes.

The loss to Hawthorn 2 weeks ago stung more. They are the very definition of a successful club in this league, a club that I wish Port Adelaide were like.

It's been mentioned earlier - losses by 1, 2 and 3 points this season. Last year, we put together 4(?) 90+ losses. We are on a journey under Josh, which is 8 games old. Learning system, learning behaviours in pressure situations, learning to better identify when we are being outplayed and curbing that influence - that took Brisbane 6 years to master. It's the long game, but for the first time in a long, long time - I feel we are genuinely growing as a football club.

Bulldogs on Friday night, we go again.

The last 40 seconds just makes me want to violently throw my guts up.

So much braindead stuff.

Were we rooting for the crows fairytale because it’s like we got in front and decided that we must surrender.

It was soft but why on earth did Drew feel the need to get Rankine high. That free kick doesn’t happen we win despite sweets braindead tap out into space.

Butters with possession with 20 seconds to go could’ve handled that better.

Durdin needed to hold that tackle.

Wehr shouldn’t have left cook on his own.

I’m not getting over this loss anytime soon. I’m ropeable.

For a team that’s owned us for 4 years we couldn’t have had a better opportunity to get one back on them than last night.

A truly remarkable **** up..

Yeah but wins don’t matter this year everyone says, get stuffed they always matter and especially against the crows.

The entire thought process that went into the last 40 seconds left a lot to be desired.
You’d think they would have a worked out plan for this situation.
Looking at it I doubt they have, maybe it’s something they can look into and practice.

Do we a have a specialist goal kicking coach yet? although i don't think we should panic about MG missing goals just yet, what concerns me is kicking the crucial goal under pressure to ice a game.
Needs a psychologist not a goalkicking coach, had no problem kicking one from the boundary line 50 out last week when we had won the game

Very true, can kick them from the boundary line no problems but struggles straight in front.
That’s a mental problem not a technique problem.

Things must be different now

Previously I’d be like meh after that

But now I’m still in a campaigner of a mood
Whilst pissed off..

I’m okay, I can see we are on the right track. Was worried about Carrs appointment but not now..

Enjoying being out from the doom and gloom of the hinkley reign.

We are awful in closing out tight games, but I think it’s deeper than that for a showdown, it’s like we are allergic to winning them.

It was all Hinkley’s fault though.

So in hindsight we should have gone in unchanged ,Marshall was a no show and could have done with an extra mid in Watkins, especially in the second when Francis pulled up lame.
If Marshall and Lukosius never played another AFL game for Port Adelaide it would make absolutely no difference to us developing as a side.

It’s lack of belief and lack of leadership. Absolutely no composure when it’s needed has happened for years in big games. The more you lose the worse it gets.

I tipped the crows even though their form going in was poor, with an unsettled side and a 5 day break return from QLD, missing their best player. All roads led to a port win but they have something over us and have for a very long time even when it made absolutely no sense in 2023-24.

The concerning thing is when will have another chance like that against them.

I hope that loss burns so deeply it sets us off on a run like what happened to the hawks after they lost to us in the final few seconds in 2024 but my fear is it could have the opposite effect and we will be flat after that loss.

The emotional fatigue of playing in so many close losses already this year is a huge concern.

We are a super young team still coming to terms with a new gameplan and with some luck and a bit better form, we could be 7 wins and 1 loss on the year.

We have huge amounts of improvement to do within the playing group and also bringing in new players.

We will see still have our ups and downs but we are trending in the right way.

I would normally agree with you, Willsy, but I feel the players, the team, the squad and the coaching staff will know that we have a lot of improving to do and a lot more talent coming into the side.

Just getting better and the lesser players on the team becoming backups will make a huge difference.

But no doubt, it was a chance lost to beat the Cows.

Such an almost season.

Havent seen the full replay (couldnt watch live) but have seen the score and we're a 3-5 side that was a ****ing bees dick from being 7-1.
You can’t expect to win all the close ones and we saw in 2023 that doing that papered over the cracks. And we eventually were found out in finals.

But losing all 4 is a massive concern for me, it can’t all be bad luck and umpiring, we are definitely putting together a sample size of mental fragility.

I think we should’ve at least won one or two of the close 4 we’ve lost this year.

The real issue is when he is missing goals.

When the game on the line or still to be determined and it is close, he struggles.
Outside of that, he's a dead eye dick.

He needs to be clincial.
Kicking under pressure is his issue then. That's one thing i loved about Wingard when kicking for goal.

Great post. Couldn’t have put it better.

The push in the back to deny Milera’s goal was there but it doesn’t get paid 99 times out of 100
Plus that ARC review that overruled the umpire's decision when the ball was 5 metres above the goal post. There's no way in hell that Crows' goal should have ever been overruled. The crowd was right to be furious.
