Showdown

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Whilst I hate losing showdowns, we should be picking a team with an eye for the future.

In:
Walker - in form & seriously what other better forward options do we have
Jericho - unlucky to be dropped & Brirdman replacement
Moran - gives us a versatile option
Otten - form deserves more than 1 game

Out:
Burton - injured, hope he returns though
Porplyzia - injured
Goodwin - no point playing injured as ineffective for over a month
Griffin - get yourself fit & some early season confidence back

B: Johncock, Rutten, Bassett
HB: Massie, Bock, Doughty
C: Knights, Thompson, van Berlo
HF: Walker, Stevens, Vince
F: Douglas, Tippett, Jericho
R: Maric, Edwards, Shirley
I: Moran, Symes, Campbell, Otten

I can't wait to see this, i wish i could go but my parents don't like the Crows or Port and petrol's just too expensive to make the trip to Adelaide... :(

We have absolutley no chance of beating Port. Our confidence is at an all time low and the season is all but over. Forget about it and look to 2009.

Grand Final for us this Sunday.
Season may as well be over after this game, so I hope we put everything on the line.

I really hope we bring in Moran for Griffin. I think we should put Griffin back in the SANFL for the next 4 or 5 weeks and really make him earn a recall. His last few games for us have been pathetic. Yesterday he wouldnt of even of got dirty. His lack of intensity is amazing. Apart from tapping the ball he has no idea about around the ground play, cant take a mark and just doesnt get involved in the game. I think our future is with Maric in the ruck and at least Moran will have a go. In three of his four games this year in the SANFL he has had 19,18 and 17 possessions. At least Moran knows how to find the footy and is very mobile and flexible.

brining a 18 years old 1st gamer in against these sniping dogs would be a terrible move. As much at it hurts to say it, McGregor or Gill for me - btw neither player is up to this standard.

I just hope that he's one of those players who play better at AFL than SANFL because some of those stats weren't the best plays of the day, i'm informed of.

I'd rather have a guy in the team who has a go and so be it if he makes mistakes. Unfortunately in the past 5 or 6 games Griffin efforts have been very ordinary. Griffin hasnt really made any mistakes but I guess he hasnt touched the ball to make any mistakes.

Normally i would agree that debuting a player against Port is a bad move, but i think Walker is a different case. His old man played a couple of games with Norwood i believe and you can tell that is the club he wanted to play with in the SANFL. He plays for Norwood with a passion and gets into the crowd. He was a Crows supporter before he was a player. You'd have to assume this is the game he'd want most to play. We need the passion, we need players that are desperate to be out there and take them on. Bring in Walker. It's time for a risk.

As for the pessimists predicting the falling of the sky, grow some for christ sake. This is when its time for the clubs supporters to stand up and show something. I'll never believe that we aren't capable of beating that rabble from across the river, never. I've got no problem with using his forum to critique and criticize, but to come on here and completely dismiss our chances against the PAP's is plain embarrassing for those involved.

OUT:
Burton
Porplyzia
Griffin
Cambell
Massie
Bassett

IN:
Walker
Sellar
Dangerfield
Otten
Jericho
Moran

I know it's tongue in cheek but Dangerield will not play this season unless we are extremely depleted by injury with no one to bring in.

He has been given a guarantee by the club that they will not play him & to let him complete his year 12. Whilst he has been an emergency on a couple of occasions, it was to help him get aquainted with the team.

Really can't see that?

OUT:
Burton
Porplyzia
Campbell

IN:
Otten
Mackay
Gill

I think given that they bring in two first year players they won't bring a 3rd in opting for some experience in Gill

I think we've really learnt something about our 2 young ruckmen int he last 5-6 weeks. The main thing being that when the pressure is really on and the game is on the line, Maric is the one you want out there.

I think Griffin did fairly well early when we were playing lesser opposition and we were doing well, but i think he struggles when the pressure is on.

This will change as Griff gets more experience and physical strength though, i hope.

Ivan will thrive in the showdown pressure!!

1. Anyone who wants Gill in obviously didn't watch him play yesterday.

2. Those calling for Brad Moran to play obviously haven't seen him play. If he's who we're turning to then we're in some serious strife.

3. Matthew Golding > Griffin.

For goodness sake watch the bloody game before yapping.

Agreed, great post:thumbsu:

The club has seemed to lack heart in the last month or so. I kept saying to my mate yesterday that we needed a Goodwin or Thompson goal to really spark up the players and get them back in the contest.
