There are many varieties of protection available for contact sports. Admittedly they aren’t in MMA but there are light weight options available for soccer players so it is an option for those players that get themselves into scrimmages.
In days gone past the tight shorts would have ruled out stuffing anything down there except for vanity. Today’s loose shorts certainly provide a target [emoji50]
Like Smith with the neck protector it’s a personal choice and with the level of AFL contact these days perhaps more players will think about their jewellery
