If Coxy or NicNat were to miss the rest of season, who would you play?

I think both will become good players.

Right now I'd be inclined to play for Sinclair, but I've got this gut feeling Lycett will develop into the better ruckman down the track.

Lycett is a better ruckman around the ground and i think has a far higher ceiling than Sinclair. That being said Sinclair is the better forward and maybe a bit mature at the moment. Both are pretty good and could probably be starting ruckman at several other clubs.

Is this a genuine question?

Sinclair is a depth forward who pinch hits in the ruck.

Lycett has shown flashes and enough promise to soon develop into a starting AFL ruckman who also has forward skills beyond those of most AFL ruckman I.e he isn't just a chance at the odd big grab but he positions himself well and knows where to run ...

If we were playing guys who are potentially taking is into a better future it's Lycett by the length of the straight

I think sinclair did a great job covering for naitanui last year, he just needs toget some games to get back to that form

Lycett, dude has a Polly Farmer like Handball (Don't get carried away, I'm only talking about ONE aspect of his game), and is the yin to Naitanui's yang. They will compliment each other beautifully.

If you ask anyone who has watched a decent amount of East Perth games this year they say there is no contest. Lycett has been the better ruckman and the better forward. Sinclair hasn't been close.

Lycett for sure. Has got good pace, can take a grab, applies good defensive pressure and can play forward.

The moment we know we won't make the 8 this year is the moment Lycett overtakes Cox on the pecking order IMO

I would play both. They are both strong, young, mobile, hopefully uninjured and who both had a pre season. Let them loose. We need a CHF - Sinclair. We need a Cox replacement - Lycett. We saw them both do good work during the NAB cup. They are an asset and they should be used.

We needs rucks who don't consistently tap to the opposition. In fact losing the tap can be an advantage. If an opposition ruck is winning the tap then shark his taps. Maybe let the opposition take the tap and use our ruck as an extra midfielder. I don't know but doing the same ineffectual thing week after week is stupid. We needs rucks who can take marks around the ground and who protect our midfielders. In fact we need to seriously look at the ruck division. Try something different. Put NN on the wing - do something - maybe he is the big bodied midfielder we need- just as long as we don't relay on him to take marks. "He flies through the air with the greatest of ease the daring young man on the flying trapeze. His actions are graceful all the girls he does please and my love he has purloined away." But NN falls on the ground without the ball that daring young man. Maybe he should just try to tap to a carefully trained player running past.

Nothing will help though if our players don't make the effort to deny the opposition space like North had. North had options everywhere. It was a disgrace. Why can't our midfielders make space like the opposition seems to be able to do. Maybe this is the game plan - give the opposition as much space as possible so they will get tired running into all the space they have. Oh and don't forget to waste as much energy as possible on tackles that don't stick when you do try to close up space. The strategy is to make sure that they opposition can always get a hand ball away to the players standing unopposed waiting for the handball.

Mr Simpson it is time to try something. Yes you Mr coach. Do something. Who was the intellectual giant who thought that Hill would be a good sub? It might be too soon to say that you have no idea what you are doing. But it must be close to that time.

If Sinclair asked to be traded what do you think his market value is?

I'd say a second rounder

Which makes for Lycett's selection this week - fingers crossed it happens. Cox needs a rest.............................

Cox needs to be dropped for the rest of the year. He has contributed NOTHING this year, not a thing, he is currently a liability not only to the team but to the development of Lycett.

I hope Cox, as our ruck coach, does the right thing and request for Lycett to be played.
Nothing would piss me off more than to see the same players get games with the same nothing output.

I dont want to derail this thread, but Cox can not do anything when the ball hits the ground. He is good at linking up at half back, but that is about it. He pulls down the occasional mark.
But honestly, i can not possibly stomach him flailing around for another game.
I'm sick and tired of commentators going on about how player X is coming up against the "premier ruckman combination" and keep seeing player X dominate even if its their debut game. Lowden got 3 goals FFS.
