Can we make a rule that we don't shit-can players until there is a form line? I doubt it.
It was suggested early on that he may just have been suffering nerves as a young player. I had faith when Bucks coached that NAB game a few years ago against Port in the driving rain and Bucks thought that Sinclair was good. Have great faith in Buckley's judgement.
Sure, there were concerns early this year and they might have been fair concerns for a 50 game player, but we place a ridiculous strain on young players that spills out into talkback.
I'll be interested to see if these lessons are learnt.
50 games? That would take 2 or 3 years to get to. I would guess that some posters here couldn't wait that long and would prefer to big-note themselves by blasting a young kid trying to get a few games under his belt and gain some confidence.
I'm not advocating that we should stay clear of criticising these kids, but I just dont see the point of making it harder on these kids to gain enough confidence to make a contribution to the team.
The reality is that the development coaches don't use the trade table to motivate these kids. They point out to these kids the things that they do well and the things that they can improve in. At the end of the season, the club will choose the players to drop off the list. There's no bonus points for picking them earlier.
I watched the complete Sydney game on the weekend and I concentrated on the play every time that Rhyce Shaw got the ball. Not once did he turnover the ball. A lot of it can be put down to hard work and maturity, but I'm sure that he's grateful that he's got away from the fans who just couldn't move on from some of the mistakes that he used to make when he was a kid.
