I wonder if I go and buy it from JB/EB/whoever, whether when my preorder comes if I can return that for a refund?

I believe EB lets you return a played game within the first week of its release for a full refund if you simply didn't like it. They certainly used to do that. So you could buy it from there, play it, and then return it when your foreign copy arrives!

You could still trade it in for like $50 as a pre-owned.

As long as it is the same format then it will work with the save file.
I don't think you could use a PAL save file with a NTSC game.

EB Games will not let you trade in games that are purchased or obtained from overseas, even if they are PAL versions. I've tried to do this before and it didn't work.

They have to be games which you purchased in Australia.

Reports are coming in that one of this year’s most anticipated games, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been released ahead of it’s November 11 release date in Australia.

Several Target stores around Sydney and Melbourne have confirmed to us that they are selling the game today, with many EB Games stores saying they will be selling the title from 3PM AEDST. The street date breakage is following a trend first widely seen with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on Nintendo 3DS and most recently Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Skyrim is a Role Playing Game for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is the fifth instalment of the Elder Scrolls series. The game has been hailed for it’s open world, non-linear gameplay style and epic storyline.

Possibly. A lot of EB store clerks are fairly clueless.

Gee that's a good deal. I prefer to buy from EB and price match with JB though. The 7 day return policy is handy if I don't like the game.

My Skyrim anticipation is reaching fever pitch. I don't think I've ever, ever been this excited for a game. Not Half Life 2, not Halo 2, not Portal 2, not AFL live (hah).
