is there an easier way to get the house in whiterun than pay the $5k?

any other tips for levelling up? i have just been trying to do all the quests and seem to be getting no where level wise. it seems i am better off just walking around country killing stuff.

a few posts have said the same thing I have been doing. Buy as many leather and leather strips u can from as many merchants u can. Use the forge to make hide bracers, heaps of 'em.. Not only raises the main level but raises your smithing so you can make and upgrade weapons and armour. Sell the hide bracers back, then sleep or wait 24 hours, rinse repeat. I have a Elven mace epic 47hp (i have magic other hand) , Orcish heavy aromour 83, and some Steel gauntlets of major weilding 30 +25% one hand extra damage, dwarven boots of strength epic 31 plus carry increased by 35 and a helmet i got on quest 34 plus speech+10, prices+20% plus magika regen 5% quicker. . I can one shot most foes if they get close but i magic them from range. Working still on my smithing to get these to legendary. I'm level 22 imperial so still a ways to go:D

Yep gone is the heavy armour. Welcome light.

so after 30 hours I've decided to start again with a new character. Am I crazy? I just wasn't happy with how my character was turning out, I had points in OH, destruction, block , Light Armour, Sneak and Archery, I felt like I was becoming a jack of all trades, master of none. I'm going to go full mage this time around

The other reason was because I got hit by that texture bug on 360. It doesn't make the game unplayable but it's so distracting. Textures are back to normal on this new save

Let me just say from first hand experience that the Thieves Guild quest line is far more rewarding then the Dark Brotherhoods quest line.

One thing thats annoying me right now, is that I constantly keep dying. It may be the fact that I have crap armor/weapons but I haven't found anything decent apart from what I have on my quests.

At level 21 with 147 armor rating and 38 weapon rating with 60 something OH, 39 block and 40 or 50 Heavy armor.

How many of you have killed Lydia?
Darn follower keeps getting in the way of my firebolt which led to her death after fighting a dragon:(

I'm in love with this game :p

Got my smithing up to 100, made myself the entire light dragon armor collection, then made some daedric swords and a bow to go along with it(all improved on the workbench or grinder). I can't believe how obsessed i have become haha, now i really want to get my enchanting up and make my weapons extremely op.

If anyone wants to know the easiest way to get your smithing up, imo just keep making iron daggers!

For those looking for a good house, just finish the College of Winterhold quest line. The Arch-Mage quarters come with an Alchemy Lab, Enchanter and reliable storage. Looks nice as well (also get an amazing staff to use against mages).

do you travel with a companion? Go to the Inn in Riften and find a guy named Marcurio(?). He's an absolute beast

Does it really matter where you go at what level? I heard that most dungeons scale to your level but then I've been in places where I get absolutely smashed.

I'm using Eric the Slayer at the moment. Seems to be living. He is about my sixth companion. They all seem to die on me. I think he has bugged though as he won't put on the better armour I gave him.

Each dungeon you enter remembers your current level. The level of the baddies don't change. So if you see you are getting smashed leave and go back when you are stronger. The baddies will be the same as they were the first time but you will be stronger.

on the ps3, what button do i use for the whiterun house cheat?

i think they have fixed it.

Their is no specific 'button' cheat, rather you need to a specific location to exploit it... basically (you can google specifics):

- the house needs to be on offer (Adevinci or whoever ?)
- you need 5000g
- go to Adevinci's bedroom when he is sleeping... say at 5am.
- talk and wake him, so he climbs out of bed
... Next is very important!!!

- you need to position your sights so you have a Wardrobe/Side Table near where the NPC chat options are displayed. This is so you can quickly store your 5000g in there during the transaction.

- once Adevinci is out if bed and you have your storage option in site, begin talking to him.
- select buy the house for 5000g
- BE READY... Before selecting the final option of "I'll take it"... you need quickly do this, be ready:

- Press A (i guess it is X on PS3) to confirm "I'll take it"
- Immediately press B to exit the chat menu (guessing it is CIRCLE on the PS3)
- immediately move your sites to the wardrobe and press A (or X on PS3) to open up item interaction menu (which pauses the game).

- then store your 5000g in the wardrobe ( if your quick the house transaction hasnt finalized yet)
- exit out from the wardrobe menu.
- house transaction finalizes even though you no longer have the 5000g on you... you get your house keys.
- you now re-enter the wardrobe menu and get your 5000g back.

House + 5000g

Kachinggg!

Progress update:
- did that dog quest... didn't need the rewards b/c a) I'm an archer and b) I found a wicked helm on the way.

- half up a mountain OTW to Rimrock Burrows (for the dog quest) I found another Dragon word location. Tough named bad dude magician popped out... me and the dog took him down (good fight)... and he dropped 200g, but I didn't retrieve NOT A SINGLE arrow of the 20 odd I pumped into him... But he did drop a VERY COOL helm named after him (forget its name ATM). Light armor piece, rating of about 40, weight 1, value 4600g ... Bonuses to 20% trade prices, 10+ speech, and under water breathing.... PLUS you look like Dr DOOM... awesome.

- Also downed a dragon with Lydia + plus native saber help.

Just so much to do and deciding where to next. :)

What's scary is I already have my next 2 toons planned out:

- a duel wielding wrecking machine (maybe Orc)
- and some sort of Mage (prob Nord)

dual wielding high elf thief/mage,maxed out on destruction, two handed, archery, and sneak, practically unstoppable, retrieving the elder scroll, awesome quest, blackreach is a really cool dungeon, and dwarven centurion was great fight, guess im a solo man,so far have lost 4 companions and 6 horses
