Michael Slater deserves to get the chop for that costly show of arrogance he displayed in the Indian first innings.
The vital opportunity to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar when he was on 80-odd was foolishly wasted when Michael Slater decided to play the show-pony and attempt to grab a skied chance in the outfield by taking a footy mark instead of a sensible genuine cricket catch. The jump in the air with one knee raised from a running start in the end made Slater look like an absolute fool when the chance was put down. This sheer arrogance and lack of respect for both the game of cricket and Sachin Tendulkar could have ultimately cost Australia the game. Tendulkar went on to make a further 50-odd runs and Australia went on to lose by a mere 2 wickets.
And don't tell me this has been the first on-field indiscretion by a certain Mr Slater in recent times.
Drop him I say. He treats his position in the Australian side as a joke.
