List Mgmt. Sloane and Mitchell

At least you know the real value of Vickery, unlike many other posters here.

Vickery is one huge disappointment from what I've seen and unlikely to have much currency with other clubs. A pick in the mid 30s would be the best he would bring.

Many BF posters have inflated ideas of the value of ordinary players on their own list but also down grade the value of really good players on other teams lists.

On the open market Dylan Shiel is worth somewhere in the pick 1-3 range, he's already a gun with yet more upside and still young so plenty of years to offer a new club.

BF posters should look at the trades from recent seasons to get a better understanding of the REAL value of players. Neither Vickery nor Conca will get you late first round picks.

Sloane is highly likely to re sign or will go to a Melbourne club that is challenging. Mitchell finally looks to have regained his place in the Sydney midfield producing big numbers and as a contracted F/S won't be going anywhere.

Good luck with the Shiel chase.
Your club gave us a first-rounder for Tambling. Vickery >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tambling.

and I was spewing about the waste of a good pick! What did you guys do with that pick anyway?

Clubs are far, far smarter these days. Vickery is a spud, you know, I know it, and most importantly 17 other clubs recruiters know it!

Vickery has plenty of talent. He's 200cm tall and has great agility. His head is his problem and someone will believe they can fix it.

We effectively turned the Tambling pick into Kamdyn McIntosh and Todd Elton.

I would rather Shiel than sloane. I think Rory will stay with the crows anyway. Shiel is a jet, hard at it player with great hands. Moves forwards not sideways and has good vision. Tom Mitchell would be fantastic but vant see it happening. Unless both Cotchin and rance retire

Shiels averaging 28 disposals so far this year and sitting 5th in the AFLCA voting. Would cost a lot to get him. But would be worth it.

Didn't Mitchell just sign? And now that he's cracked into the side he'll keep his spot and would imagine he'll stay. As for Sloane and Shiel, would love either one of them. I think we will be aggressive come trade time because we have copped our fair share of criticism for not doing anything over last years trade period.
Sure am sick of hearing about this war chest but not doing anything with it.

Sloan could be a great captain for us, and it will take the pressure of cotch and let him play like he used to.

LOL Coming from an Adelaide supporter this really is a barrel of laughs
[QUOTE="TheProwler, post: 38498820, member: 79489. Our biggest name in recent trade history was Hampson :(
That was only big because of his missus!

You guys gotta stop recruiting list cloggers/role players from other teams. Miles is your only recent winner in the trade in stakes?[/QUOTE]

What would we do without the Crows, Tambling Angus Graham :-)

Would be shocked if Collingwood and Hawthorn can offer much to any free agents or quality players looking for a trade.

Collingwood I assume would of have to of used most of their space left by some key departures (maxwell, Shaw) on the likes of Adams, White, Cloke, Greenwood and Elliot. While Hawthorn have spent the buddy space on Frawley and O'Rourke and although they may lose a few players to retirement come the seasons end they are either playing on reduced wages (Lake) or have some of their salary under the veterans list with younger players looking for a raise.

As for our own club if we made some tough/hard decisions we could have a heap of space to work with. Those decision being not to renew the likes of Chaplin and Grigg (at guess on 300-400k each) as they're unlikely to be involved in any potential premiership team some time into the future. Which those two along with Foley (500k), Newman (200k) and Knights (250k) would free up an additional 1-1.5m on top of the 600-800k that should be avaliable to go after two or three top class players with Rance resigning.

that makes a lot of sense however i would highly doubt that chaplin will get moved on. Grigg is a maybe? (could be held onto for depth) The rest of the post makes a hell of a lot of sense

Pies also lost Daisy, Wellingham and Dawes. I reckon they've got a fair bit left over.

To get something really good we have to give up something good in . Trade. We might have to give up one or two of the following
Martin
B . Ellis.
Rance
Deledio
Cotchin
Reiwoldt
That's the dilemma who would you give up

Given the stage of career & only this factor, reluctantly Brett....:(

Sloane and Shiels would be absolute wins for us, love Sloane just a honest footballer with tons of talent and leadership would be awesome to see him with Trent battle for our club.

Vickery needs a new club now, has the potential to be a great forward with all the attributes.

Rance is a star but I think we can manage with Elton and Astbury

Conca is another I think needs to go home and rejuvinate himself and career. Sellwood...

We need to start winning games more importantly otherwise we got buckleys to lure any big names.

Leadership leadership leadership

They could offer a bit but if a players option was between Richmond and Collingwood I think we could offer much more which is more the point i'm trying to make.

I agree that it's unlikely but I think it's the type of decisions we have to make in order to reach the next step. The way I see it is the likes of Grigg and Chaplin are good players when they want to be or when the opposition allow them to be. So on their day they're worth their 350-450k salaries but as soon as the pressure and intensity lifts they are the one's letting us down most, which wouldn't be so bad if they were paid 200-250k a year. But they're not so I would rather trade them to teams looking for a couple of experienced players and get a second or third rounder in return (unlikely). Otherwise they can take reduced salaries which is also unlikely (sadly).

They lost the latter two so they could afford to pay Cloke. They also lost Beams but they're paying Greenwood almost as much as they were paying him.

Why?:drunk:

Traders would love this! The reasons you provide are the reasons you would keep him!

Gotta love the sentiment players around this board:p

Unless there was a buyer prepared to pay top dollar chasing a premiership right now!

I guess we could trade him to Freo for Blakely and Weller if he wanted to.

Out of that list that I took Lids name cos he is the oldest, and given his physical issues may only have a season or 2 left. We could use the high drafts. You gotta give something of value to get something of Value. Teams like Freo would jump at him I think along with one or 2 others.....I'm thinkin the future, at this rate Lids will probably not be there for our Prem window (much as I'd love it if he & the team proved me WRONG !!!!).....
