Phantom Draft Snoops Annual Mock Draft with explanations

Great job Snoop.

Just curious as to why you had the tigers going tall so late in the draft. Most Tiger fans on BF seem to think that we will go tall at 19 and even 35 as we have a desperate need for a CHF/FF? I am assuming that you believe there is no body worth taking at these picks or you don't think we have such a big hole at CHF?

dont disagree - I think if there was a quality tall KP at #19 around then suspect the Tigers would hit that after Martin but other than Fitzpatrick who I think could only play CHF then there is little else. Cannot see Astbury going #19 so would be more likely to be a Carlisle, Griffiths, Panos, Black who fall. Chances are one of them will but not the way I had it falling. As you say there are a lot of talls at the 40+ end but I cant see them squeezing in to early. Reid I think will be v good. Donaldson just keeps giving an effort and if McDOnald can get the agility working he could be very handy as well.

Richmond already has 9 players 180cm or less in height. I can't see us taking another one let alone two more in Christensen and Hooper. We'll either go for a KPP if anyone decent is still around at 19 or as you mentioned a Sheppard. We need to add size to our list as well as ability.

Great work by the way. Thanks for going to the trouble of doing a detailed mock draft. A good read :thumbsu:.

yeah fair call ........maybe that will be a criteria for them. Play at opposite ends though.

Excellent read. Like many, I like the comments rather than the rankings.

Jetta @ 7, Cunnington @ 13 and Tapscott @ 22 surprise. Tapscott is probably about right, but I suspect some might be tempted earlier.

Is this a prediction or your evaluations?

And, sorry, but it's Trengove. No "r".

Cheers again :thumbsu:

Excellent work Snoop always look forward to it. Interesting you have a lot of talls going in the first round.

Just a heads up, the bulldogs said they will use pick 79 in the draft and I would love to nab Thompson at that pick.

yeah i always stuff that up.

not sure what the difference is but they are my rankings and based nearly all on what i have seen hence why its only ever 65-80% accurate. This year if I land 40-45 of the 65 selections somewhere I would be rapt

Fremantle

For Freo I thought a combination of best available but also some key position players. Personally I thought they came out really well. Morabito is a star, Sheppard very solid, Winmar x factor type who when fit could provide spark to a team that doesnt have a heap of it. Houghton late will pls locals and whilst promising has a way to go whilst Davies is a replacement for Solomon in the physical stakes and Craig is probably a good get for the Dockers that late.
Probably take Donaldson instead of Craig/Davies myself...reminds me of Dustbin

Disappointed about Cunnington going so high. I was hoping North might have been able to snare him at #37.

Denny Crane

You have to be kidding don't you Denny?? Cunnington will go at pick 5, if not pick 6.

37??

Tapscott will be one of Port's two picks under 10.

# 84 Swans
Jarred Allmond / Eagles / 182cm / 70kg

19yo who is a bit of a smoky. Suspect he wont go but had a terrific year where he debuted at league level and made a big impression in his first few games, tapered off through middle of season but came good again in last third of the season. Big possession winner and a classic SA midfielder who oozes class. I have seen vision of him twice and was really impressed. He ended up winning the award for best young talent in the SANFL and with his booming left foot will be an interesting prospect come draft day.
Seriously rapt to see someone bring up this guy's name in a mock draft. I feel that he could be a real find for a club prepared to go a little "against the grain" on draft day. :thumbsu:

Your mock is a great read Snoop, cheers

Tapscott will be one of Port's two picks under 10.

Think he is being sarcastic here mate, as in he doesn't think Cunnington should slip out of the top 10.

I like the duo of Martin and Christensen, they really worked well together for Vic Country and I like how he can play through the middle and kick goals as well (AC that is).

I think if Griffiths is available we will take him but I agree that he will probably be gone before our pick.

Easily the best mock draft I have read.Excellent explanations & could very well be close to what happens with real draft. Congrats on a great job Snoops :thumbsu:

Good job Snoop. Not an easy thing to do.

I think you'll get some surprises come draft day, but thats the nature of this draft - it will prove to be very unpredictable from very early on.

Great effort Snoop.

Agree with the 'types' of players you selected for EFC. Have no idea about the actual players so thanks for painting a picture. Cheers.

Awesome effort, nice and detailed.

I wouldn't expect WCE to pass on WA boys in picks 22 and 23.
I don't expect Lucus Kane to slide to pick 14 either. Had an awesome draft camp and Freo would still be considering him at pick4

PISSED OFF AT EAGLES IF THEY TAKE JETTA AT PICK 7

Awesome effort Snoop, explanations are fantastic. The time and effort you put in is top class.
I would like to see Lucas at 7 and the other 2 you mentioned at 22,23.
Taylor would be that forward we are looking for.
Best Mock by a mile.:thumbsu:

Really happy with that draft until you got to Davies. If there's one thing on our list there's an abundance of it's running HB's, they've all got pretty good disposal too so that rules out Davies for me.

Swap him with Luff though and it'd be just about perfect for Freo. I'd be stoked to get Mora and Sheppard with our first two picks.

Congrats on your effort and it goes to show the differences in how people rate certain players. This was one of the phantom drafts that I've been looking forward to reading.

*Nudges quigley to post his*

And Ant555!

EDIT: Thanks snopp was a great read and you generally present something slightly different which I like. Cunnington biggest surprise really.
