So if we have an ordinary year in 2008

Who is going to jump up and down and blame the coach, the board or whoever ?
Just my personal opinion but i think we could be in for an interesting year. We could well fall back in the wins department while we sort out who amongst the young blokes will lead us forward.
Hang on it could be a bumpy ride :D

I also believe that we're going to go a bit backwards next year but I won't mind as long as Knights is getting game time into our youth and I can see development.

It all depends on what transpires I suppose.

If it is obvious incompetence on behalf of the coach, I won't refrain from venting my dissatisfaction.

However, like every year, there's reason for optimism. So far, Knights has done just about everything right in my book.

I see no reason to prepare ourselves for a bumpy ride. For all we know, we could surprise a lot of people in 2008.

I don't think I'll be fussed. Especially given how good the "08" draft looks. We'd be all the better with Natanui or Hurley in our future side

That's what Hardwick said to, and perhaps missed the top job because of it. You need to rebuild.

Honestly, if you don't know what you're talking about, don't come on our board.

Hardwick proposed a rebuild up to 2012, Knights thought 2010 was more appropriate.

It's not as though Knights thinks we're Premiership material in 2008.

Wins would be nice, but primary goal should be the development of the young players.

2 more pre-seasons under the belt of players like Jetta, Ryder, Hislop, Reimers, Neagle, Gumbleton, Davey, Dempsey and even Scot Laycock should see a significant climb up the ladder in 2009.

I think we have the spine, but I also think at this stage too few do too much, other players need to pull their finger out and i believe that is one of Knights' plans... blood the young guys for bigger roles not pulling their fingers out! :D

You guys might not agree with me but if we are to have a respectable year we should improve on this years performance and win a finals spot. Our team is similar to last year and with guys like Houli, Gumbleton, Hislop, Winderlich, Stanton , Watson, Jetta and Ryder developing I think it would be dissapionting is we mised the finals.

So be prepared for a dissapointing season 2008

It is hard to say how we will go due to a new coach. Even if we dont do good, i still thinks Knights will be safe and we will get better from there. However I do believe that if our youngsters can improve alot and quickly, then we may even be in a chance of making the finals. I predict Essendon to get 8th, though I am a Bomber optimist.

i think we'll do alright dis year. we'll have a fully fit davey n jetta, lloyd n lucas will be evn beta den last year, young guns will stand up, defense is very solid. wont be surprised if we make the eight. cant wait for '08:thumbsu:

There's something about having no expectations that makes the season more exciting. Like 2006, we beat Sydney the first round, and i was happy with that but not overly ecstatic. THen when it was obvious we werent having a good year, the close games just became that much more exciting. I could hardly speak from excitment when i realised we were going to beat Brisbane. What a great night that was :)

I'm hating this blame the coach, and blame the board craze thats going around. Its the players on the field that win the matches and its the players that loose them as well, Its not the coaches fault when their team looses, its the players responsibility and will always be the players responsibility and in some cases it can be the coaches fault but that is on the odd occasion.

If next year we are as crap as we we're in 2006, we can't blame Matthew Knights or Peter Jackson or any of the board members as such, if anything its up to the players if we play good or not because their the ones on the field.

You can never blame the coach because he isn't on the field is he, he's trying to win the game full stop.

I'm banking on Knights having close relationships with the younger players, not only teaching them but listening to them as well, knowing where they prefer to play, what might help ect ect and they can play off each other, the younger players might feel more comfortable than they were with Sheedy and hopefully take the next steps.

Plus improvement in skills, accountability, teamwork and hopefully a long and direct gameplan, I think we're underrated, I hope so anyway.

I think next year might be a bit of a downer for us, but it will all be in preparation for 2009. Id be disappointed if last years draftees didnt play most games enxt season, barring injury of course. The more footy we get into them, the better they will become.

Unless there's complete incompetence shown by the coaching staff then I won't be blaming them.

I have my radar on a few players - Welsh, McPhee, Watson, McVeigh, Monfries, Pev, Rama, Hille, Dyson, Nash

The guys in bold must have good seasons or the knives will be out. The other two must provide support.

I don't think we'll have an ordinary 2008.

I expect the likes of Davey and Jetta to give us a spark.

Gumbleton to complement Lloyd and Lucas.

Ryder to become a nightmare matchup.

The midfield to start looking like a good unit with Watson, Stanton, Winderlich, Lovett, Dempsey, Winderlich providing the necessary grunt, run and dash.

I think we can become a fast and exciting team next year like the doggies were a year or so ago but with more grunt and KPP quality.

Geez, a bit harsh on Welsh, McVeigh, Rama and Nash arent ya? Welsh and McVeigh both had great years this year. Rama doesnt need to prove anything. And Nash has shown how good he can be. He didnt miss a game after he played his first game this year IIRC. Quality player.
