This isn't a nothing thread. I'm an emotional man with a big heart and want to express this in hopefully the right forum.

My expectations at the start of the season particularly with the inclusions of Ball and Jolly was for something special. Ill admit it, I had high hopes for 2010. Not much has changed with 2 weeks (hopefully) left in the season. And I think every Collingwood supporter can agree as the year went on and the through the tough draw we have faced, the pies have stayed strong in every sense of the word. Ending the season on top with little to no injuries, no reports, not a bad incident off field while staying the most professional I have ever seen.

Everything has shaped well for us in 2010 and that's why we are in the position we are in. I just want to say, as a true Collingwood supporter of 20 years, I am so proud of the boys. So proud.

I and the million other Collingwood supporters look forward to our young pies taking on the best in the buisness for a spot in history. I will be upset if we loose the big one to a weaker side IMO but with the sides current form and structures in place (the next dynasty in my eyes) a premiership is right around the corner Premiers 10' or not....I call on all of you to hold your chin up high and be proud of the step up our side has made. :):thumbsu:

Go Pies.

Too true mate.

Who would have thought 12 months ago we would be going into a Prelim against one of the greatest teams in the modern game as favourites. It says a lot about the group and where we have come from. I'm proud but we still have unfinished business.

For what it's worth my old man reckons this is the best Pies team he has seen since the early 70's when we had guys like Greening, Thompson and McKenna running around. Better even that the 1990 premiership team. I was too young for the 70's teams and not old enough to appresiate the 1990 team. What do the real veterans think about how this team stacks up?

I've said it a couple of times in this forum but the facts speak for themselves. This is the first Collingwood team that has finished top of the ladder since 1977.... at least that's what I've read somewhere. Thats a long time.

There's been a lot of talk about the Colliwobbles but thats something in the late 60s and early 70s when we had a team of players who were in desperate need of a backbone.

Tommy Hafey did a fantastic job in the late 70s and early 80s. He got the boys fit and playing as a team but we were always suspect against a team who had star players. We always had too many eggs in one basket - Phil Carmen or Peter Moore. The club was up itself and didnt do enough to get the right players to the club.

Man for man, this is the best Collingwood team I've seen in 50 years, although we always have to give a nod to the 1990 premiership team that did such a great job.

Win or lose, I'm proud to call myself a Collingwood supporter. This team will win a premiership if we hold our nerve and continue to strive to be the best we can be.

A good post, but your first sentence in the quote is why it could all go pear-shaped, and they've got to take every single chance they have. Not say, if they lose this week or next, "Oh well, they're a young team, it's a learning experience, they'll be back and stronger for it". I recall discussion after 1990 as to how many they could go onto win after that. You never know what is going to happen in 2011, 2012 and so on.

This year *has* played out perfectly in terms of injuries and distractions, whether it be good planning/management or good luck, or a fair whack of both. I've learned over the years not to take these things for granted. Let's make the most of it.

Great Effort by the boys this year, especially with the draw we have had. I am very proud.
