With the amount of noise being made about Eade it is pretty much a done deal from where I am sitting. Don't stress Sunny_.

Could turn out to be spot on with that call exile I think it was? Tuesday 4pm.
was thinking about that! all these articles about eade, but i remember the "bomber to be announced as suns head coach within the end of the week" articles, so i'm not gonna get my hopes up haha.

Travis confirmed an announcement would be made in the next few days at least. :)

If it's not Eade, at least we know he's the one who turned us down.

He has a strong family. I believe he has a daughter who did or is doing her VCE now so there will be some family tow.

Or himself. Daughter starting grade 12 this year. Be rough to pull her up just for this year.

Going to be a bit embarrassing if he says no! Oh well, that's the nature of the beast I guess. As Bluey would say. ;)

It has probably been covered but has anyone actually looked into Eade's record as a coach? I mean we know he was very good for Hawthorn and won some flags but he also spent three years living on the Gold Coast and playing for the Bears so he isn't unfamiliar with things in Queensland/on the GC. Here is his record as a coach:

eQFuDQO.jpg

1991 - Bears reserves coach (won the flag)
1992/3 - North Melbourne assistant coach (12th in 1992 and 3rd in 1993)
1994/5 - North Melbourne reserves coach ()
1996/2002 - Swans senior coach (1st and runner up in 1996, 6th in 1997, 3rd and semi final in 1998, 8th in 1999, 10th in 2000, 7th in 2001, 11th in 2002)
2005/11 - Bulldogs senior coach (9th in 2005, 8th and semi final in 2006, 13th in 2007, 3rd and prelim in 2008, 3rd and prelim in 2009, 4th and prelim in 2010, 10th in 2011)

So as a senior coach he has - 1 Grand Final, 3 prelims, 2 semis, 3 first rounds, 5 outside top 8s. That's a pretty good record as a senior coach. 9 years inside finals and 5 outside.

Really happy with that.

I still don't think Bluey should have been sacked. I know he lost the players, but I'd have been happy to move them on (depending on how many). But out of this mess, to land Eade... I'm excited. He's a real footballer's footballer in terms of mentality. Watch us toughen up. Watch us use our speed. Our skills will improve. We will play the percentages. We will win more game-day situations. He's not the messiah, but he's a very good coach.

I mentioned Eade some weeks ago. If he gets the nod, I feel it will be a good decision..... the bloke has all the credentials to take us forward.

Same as Bolton if the media is to be believed. Second round but no further.
Thanks sunny, that's selfishly great news for saints but sucks for luke who coached my junior team to b2b2b flags not long ago in a solid league before going to the hawks.

Hope everything works out with whoever you get, until you play us then I hope he goes all [insert either scott name]

lowest finish of 13th? pretty good record for a head coach that hasn't won a flag along with maybe ross lyon. i reckon eade could have gone close in 08/09/10, but there were so many top teams back then.

All the positivity is creeping out now. This could be an awesome appointment. Wait and see game.

Yet left both clubs in shambles, as both teams had to rebuild. Not a great choice, Knights, Tudor, Bomber or even Williams would be better than Eade.

Not sure if this comment is fair. He inherited a lot a problems at the Bulldogs - They had a largish group of older players, a heap of unproven young guys & there weren't many experienced guys aged in their mid twenties - Cooney & Griffen pretty much. He tried to top up with Bazza & Aker as I guess he felt he had to have a crack at things before the older players like West & Johnson retired. Didn't quite get there .. Some of the drafting at the Bulldogs had been fairly ordinary in the past & Eade had to work with what he had ..

I think he will be great. I spoke to him once at a function & he was very candid & approachable. Seemed like a top bloke.

I think the key to this is who is appointed as assistant got to have someone fresh and ready to take the reigns in a couple of years I don't have great hopes for Eade feels like a backward step to me

Eade won Reserve premierships with both Brisbane (1991) & North Melbourne (1995)
Alastair Clarkson was captain of North's Reserve team
Adam Simpson also was a member of that team
He first meet Longmire at North then hired him as an assistant at Syndey

Max, correct. Eade took on a list at both the Bulldogs and Swans that were middle of the field list and in those days especially, there was a belief of a five year window to grow and make the finals and GF. This 5 year window somewhat still exists in todays game but Eade would must be licking his lips at the oppurtunity to take on a list like ours.
If he does get the job, I feel he will take us to the next level very quickly. He is one for attacking footy from the backline, is good on defence plans, and is a master tactician. He will improve our kicking skills to be more precise and teach our list how to stop easy turnover of the ball.
He did the above at the Swans/Bulldogs.....go to u tube and have a look at some of the finals games the Swans/Bulldogs played. It is more then evident.
As for being 56 and 3 years out of coaching, big deal, don't tell me the game has past him, what a load of crap, and if he has good assistants around him as well as Ashcroft and Blight to support him I feel we might be on a good thing here.

He won't say no. Coaching is in his DNA and Collingwood won't stand in his way. Although Eddie will whine like a 30yo diff cos that's what he does.

Your gain. Collingwoods loss. That can't be a bad thing.:)
