Rumour Speculation, Rumours, Lies Thread 2026 - Part 2

If he's actually as good as they're claiming, why don't Brissie just match our offer and keep him? As I see it forwards are not a high priority for us. If he stays or goes to the PSD it's no big deal.
Yes a bit silly on their part talking up a player that had to go elsewhere for a decent contract. They new this was happening months ago and sat on their hands. Could be we don't get our man and Brisbane are left with an unhappy premiership player.

They need plenty of $$$$$ off their books if they going to match the gigantic offers that will no doubt be coming for Zac Bailey in 2026, it's clear given the AFL compo given for Oscar Allen that he's on big $$$$'s and Draper also on decent $$$$'s.
Not that it would happen, but if we could downgrade our 1st this year to the Brisbane pick 23 and for that we got Ah Chee and Henry Smith, I'd probably do that.

All of that is irrelevant 5 years later.

You don't find it strange that at this point even though Carlton will take almost anything to get him off their books there are no takers.

There's a very real likelihood he'll be delisted if nobody comes for him during trade week given all the signs emanating from the Blues.

It's seems obvious AFL clubs all know how deep his problems are yet there are still clubs willing to take a chance on Oliver and Ugle-Hagan with their litany of issues but no takers for Hollands at this point?

Blues are obviously asking for something though, maybe it’s too much. Why not just wait for him to be delisted and then you get him for league minimum contract with Blues making up the balance. Why give anything you don’t have to?

he is still under contract for another year isn't he so it would cost them to delist him

He'd already be on a minimum contract so that won't be a factor. To coin one of your words he'd be on peanuts already and would cost peanuts in draft capital...Carlton want him gone big time.

Really doesn't look like a 5 year contract taking him to 33 and a first round pick traded kind of player to me.

Kablamo! Getting booted from 2 clubs before your 24th birthday for not meeting behavioural standards. Talent only takes you so far when you are a walking talking red flag.

I mean, there are brave list managers out there and there are stupid list managers. At this point of the trade period I suspect Elijah is searching for one in the latter category.

Not that it would happen, but if it ends in a stalemate because Brisbane are asking too much for an uncontracted player wanting to leave, get him to nominate for the national draft and try and get a 2nd rounder to use on him in the draft so Brisbane get nothing for him

That’s the best strategy for us, but Ah Chee might prefer the certainty of Eagles in the PSD and then try again next year. I doubt he’d nominate for the ND, but it is definitely the best draft in terms of getting to us.

Reid on now on Gettable..unlikely we trade in anyone else other than Ah Chee. Literally just mentioned organic growth and said the Dogs shut down the Sanders talk very quickly. He did mention Reid was trying to get a multiclub pick trade working early in the trade period but not sure how that sits - it was to try and get pick 29 for Ah Chee?

Ho hum, off to the draft

Reid on Gettable, sounds like we are done after Ah Chee.

Organic growth, used the bullshit fatigue excuse. Good that the club has found their excuse and all are on board.

Well whose responsibility is it to rotate the squad? Joke of a club

Probably should have worded up his coach about saying goodbye at the bnf before this then.

Him being farewelled at the B&F is totally irrelevant to trade discussions. Regardless of what they’re prepared to accept at trade, he’s definitely not staying at the Lions, so of course they farewell a liked and valued teammate.

You are looking at this the wrong way. They now know it was only fatigue that did us in in the finals so now they can make sure we are not fatigued next season and we should now win finals. THATS the improvement we need by their logic.

So we'll be going in with the same shitty ruck and midfield. Yay...

And why they aren’t willing to pay him what other clubs will whilst also not willing to trade him for fair value given precedence for similar players

God I hate trading with the premier. All of a sudden it’s ’premiership player - worth more than anyone else’.

We are improving lions draft hand next year… with a second rounder.

Firstly, ‘fair value’ is entirely subjective. And, secondly, why would you only try and get fair value if you think you can extract more? Seriously, I’d expect no less from us if we were in the same situation and we’d all be lauding Reid if we were.

It's all bullshit.

Ah Chee is an out of contract player who has nominated a new club. Don't get sucked into this nonsense.

Which is the bullshit bit? Brisbane requiring a certain outcome? You think they’re just going to agree to whatever garbage we throw their way? We need Ah Chee to bridge the gap more than they need 2 crappy picks next year. They’re leveraging our desperation to immediately upgrade our best 23. That’s neither bullshit or nonsense.
