They wanted him out 2 years ago but misread where their list was, would you want to walk back into a workplace who didnt want you, and perform at your best ??

I don't think they misread their list 2 years ago. Melbourne made top four in 2023

Straight sets though, with a well known culture issue. Granted Clarry might have been a part of that.

They were offered the world and didnt take it, now they're forcing him out with no bargaining power.

100%. And don't get me wrong, peak Oliver is amazing, but if you can't read the tea leaves as to what the issue were (are) you have rocks in your head.
It's not me that has rocks in their head bud, Oliver's numerous past issues are down to one person Clayton Oliver and it's pretty obvious those close to that issue at the Demons still have serious concerns or they wouldn't be taking this action so publicly knowing it will effect his trade value

You're discounting Oliver's multiple unprofessional indiscretions. They accommodated him, not the other way around.

FWIW I wouldn't go near him if I was AFC.

If I was Melbourne, I would have traded Jack Viney personally

Basically cooked but is contracted for THREE more years
generational 3 vote game against St Kilda though

Im not discounting them at all, what Im saying i.... why would you bust your arse for a club that actively tried to shunt you out then didnt do a deal to get you out.

Got a bit of info last night

Petracca discussion with the club was not just about on-field role - lots of questions on favourites, high performance team and recovery

He left with following info
  • although Burgo is leaving, he has established the clubs conditioning and rehab practices moving forward
  • new facilities construction is ahead of time
  • new training facilities will be world class and the recovery facilities was designed by Burgo himself

Obviously Melbourne Dees don’t have the best training facilities and GC facilities are not up to AFL standards either.

Not saying he will commit to Adelaide but this could be a factor in his decision given his previous concerns around Melbourne medical team and training facilities

your mail was also adamant Dangerfield was 100% staying so you need better made up sources

Or it reads like a new coach coming in and swinging his dick around
Yeah it wouldn't have anything to do with King's personal assessment having sat down with Oliver and being fully aware of his past and present issues would it....

Oliver's previous off field issues are no worse than Bailey Smith, who while younger was also coming off an ACL. His back half to 2025 was decent as well, there's still a good player here.

Bickley brought up Sholl for Hollands trade again on SEN SA this morning for the second time.
Carlton board seem to be convinced he's going to be delisted (and paid out) if no other club steps in

Also been mentioned there are a few clubs that may be interested in taking him on as a delisted FA (no specific clubs mentioned)

I could be wrong here, but isn't the appeal for Trac in leaving the MFC, somewhat driven by not playing with Clayton Oliver?

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that Trac holds a fair bit of resentment for Oliver based on the negative path he set the team on.

That was the talk, but theyre both partially to blame.

Edwards and Bunji made it work even though they despised each other.

Oliver on the cheap would be good, could then allow us to trade up to grab Sam Cumming or even Sharp.
Chase Bailey hard next year.

2025:
Ah Chee
Oliver
Cumming/Sharp

2026:
Bailey

2027 midfield:
Draper/Oliver, Cumming/Sharp/Soligo, Bailey/Rankine + Dawson, Rachele
Thats a lot of potency rotating through half forward/mid. Dawson is absolutely someone who can play their twilight as a primarily forward with squirts in the middle.

Seriously.

He came in reassured everyone that they are pushing to play finals again in 2026

That was just BS to calm the members

He's pushed May and more or less Petracca out the door. And now Oliver

Seems to me they are getting rid of older influential players and doing a reset of their culture

Oliver could be perfectly fine going into a new environment with a new set of standards (expectations)

Keep Gawn and Viney

It was more their wives issues to start with, but then Leighton did the dirty when Macca took him to country and Edwards didn't see the problem there...

Apparently a few clubs have sniffed around Sholl, but I don't think there's any concrete interest in him.

Probably understandable because he spent near 3 years in our best 22 prior to this year and probably wouldn't cost much, so can see teams at the very least enquiring about him.

Yeah they are a good example of 2 players making it work whilst on the same team. But I don't think Bunji and Edwards would have agreed to be traded to another different team together in the same offseason.
