It's a massive contract with five years left to take on a guy who has been ordinary the last few years. You don't just take on that contract and not either lose someone to a better financial offer or miss out on someone. I think salary cap wise there is alot more risk

My thoughts on Oliver all along have been that it depends entirely on the amount of his salary that we take on.

There is obviously a lot of risk as he has been ordinary lately and we know the issues involved. However, there is an amount that would make that risk worth it.

The game has not moved past the player that he is. He is a big bodied, contested beast, who runs both ways and is capable of exploding out of stoppages on a regular basis, or absorbing pressure and handballing to players like Dawson, Rankine or Rachele. He’s not the best kick going around, but neither is Bailey Smith, Patrick Dangerfield, Andrew Brayshaw, Tom Green, Matt Rowell etc. If he can get back to somewhere near his best he would be immensely valuable.

We clearly have some cap space available that was there for the NWM deal.

Hypothetically, if we were able to get him for 800k a year or thereabouts, vs likely having to take all of Petracca’s contract, I’d say it’s a risk worth taking.

Nah it's all posturing. They want to clean the slate for the new coach as much as possible and hit the draft and get young talent in. It's the right approach.

They don't want Petracca for another four years and his value will only get worse and he isn't the player he was. They are nudging him towards the door

Good runner speed and aerobic wise, good skills. Looks to be able to kick and handball off both sides of the body.

Skinny but looks to have bulked up a little.

Decent over head especially when getting a run at the jump.

Haven't seen much of his clearance work, but ticks the rest of the boxes for me.

What's his contract status?

2026 and been a bit out of favour with Lyon so definitely a watch for next year.

Oh Im quite aware of my posting style mate. I can be belligerent and obnoxious when not at my best. I know Im polarising with the way I post. But at least I try to back up my opinions with facts and stats and am happy to back down if someone can give me tangible information that changes my opinion.
