I feel like in the current AFL landscape and how both SA teams are up against it, that Port, and other teams, would do well to do us a favour and not select Ah Chee in the PSD.
Send a message that the PSD threat is real to these northern state campaigners.

He literally was the reason we won a couple of huge games this year, most notably the 1st Showdown and then the Collingwood game. There’s a reason two clubs have tried to poach him across the last 2 years and why he was in the AA squad.
He goes for risky kicks, that’s the licence he’s given. He beats the majority of top line KPFs. We are just lucky to get him signed for 4 years at the end of 2024.
A straight swap for a speculative young mid would rightfully go down as the worst trade this club has ever done.
Same with Collingwood, he just wanted to escape the footy bubble. I reckon he would’ve gone with Geelong if they still had any interest.
Still no idea why the Giants went for him, he just doesn’t fit their team at all.
hmmm thats not what dom ambrosio said.Twomey says an alternative Brisbane offer was our 2026 and 2027 second rounders .
A little surprised we didn’t accept that
as i said people on this board do not understand the hatred between those two teams. ps the offer wasnt that good imoThere is no way another team was going to come up with a better deal than what Hawthorn offered. The idea that Hawthorn even offered three for him is insanity already, but for Essendon to come back and say, no, we need FOUR of them... absolute lunacy from Essendon. Did they not just see Oliver being traded for a packet of chips two years after asking to leave and being denied?
Essendon absolutely screwed the pooch on this one.
What is the connection to South Australia? I figured it was a deal too good to refuse with the Crows that had him wanting to come here. Why wouldn't Port try to win Ah Chee over between now and the preseason draft?
Strange replacement for a guy like Kelly, almost the complete opposite style of footballerKelly's hip is why they need him. I don't think they knew until the end of the season that he'd need surgery again and how bad the prognosis was. Oliver is an immediate replacement as long as they can keep him on the straight and narrow.
Maybe they want to push Kelly more outside - wing, half back - rather than being a coal face mid?Strange replacement for a guy like Kelly, almost the complete opposite style of footballer
Could do, im sure thats part of the plan.Maybe they want to push Kelly more outside - wing, half back - rather than being a coal face mid?
Would make some sense if he's starting to battle injuries
I hear you but think about it, he has a deal waiting with Adelaide, he was a crows supporter as a kid, he saw Adelaide were being reasonable with the offer to brisbane for him. He knows the crows team is on the up. So what would the sell from port be other than a lot more money? Why wouldn't Port try to win Ah Chee over between now and the preseason draft?
Apparently a few alternative trade scenarios were floated by BRIS ....the deal you're referring to, AND the two x F2'shmmm thats not what dom ambrosio said.
ambrosio wanted F2 plus us to slide from 16 to 23. thats a shit deal for uncontracted B grader.
i think we would have accepted two future seconds
All this is irrelevant to the situation ....its purely an economics scenario from here .....will there be anymore than 3 Clubs participating in the PSD ...and can those other two Clubs afford a $1M ContractI hear you but think about it, he has a deal waiting with Adelaide, he was a crows supporter as a kid, he saw Adelaide were being reasonable with the offer to brisbane for him. He knows the crows team is on the up. So what would the sell from port be other than a lot more money?
Wrong way around imo.And Marshall is worse as a forward.
It's such a weird situation where now teams expect you to pay overs because paying fair value is of no use to them.We are already working with one hand tied behind our back, and now 2nd round picks have no value to these Clubs.
League is cooked
Yep! Second rounders no use to us, so pay up with a first. It's such a weird situation where now teams expect you to pay overs because paying fair value is of no use to them.
I think all the clubs have had a gutful of the advantages the Queensland teams are gettingWhy wouldn't Port try to win Ah Chee over between now and the preseason draft?
Nope wrong call. And Marshall is worse as a forward.
Why didn't they beforehand? They knew he was open to leaving, they knew Adelaide was a place he would move to, they knew Brisbane wasn't going to fight to keep him, and yet they don't pick up the phone until after trade period. Why wouldn't Port try to win Ah Chee over between now and the preseason draft?
From the press statement by their list manager, Ah Chee was not on their radar. I don't think they ever had him in mind at all, it's just the journalist asking the question and them having to give a response. Why didn't they beforehand? They knew he was open to leaving, they knew Adelaide was a place he would move to, they knew Brisbane wasn't going to fight to keep him, and yet they don't pick up the phone until after trade period.
Why would Ah Chee and Williams take phonecalls from a team that showed no interest in him until now?
Hard to win someone over when they won't talk to you!Why wouldn't Port try to win Ah Chee over between now and the preseason draft?
Cos we have a history of being on the side that benefits from AFL shennanigansDude not a single expert predicts Ah Chee will be stolen. He will be doing pre season with the Crows, he wont have any communication with other clubs. Most clubs wont have any room for the PSD anyway and with the Crows heavily front loading his contract combined will merely kill the minimal risk. All clubs know not to poach via the draft anyway. Its only ever happened with Stevens but Carlton offered him a deal weeks before and he took it and went to train for them. I think we are just worried for nothing. It would have to defy history for it to occur.
