They're hibernating mate, a bit like those big mothers in Arachnophobia in the barn. Except these guys will be in your ceiling. Get out now before dark. Not a single White tail or Huntsman encountered inside our home this summer, probably something to do with the fact Daddy long legs have taken over the place.

Pretty sure Huntsman don't have webs. So no doubt you killed something worseI had a big huntsman last night up near the ceiling of my room, spayed it, it shoots its web, swings (I think by accident) like spiderman like 5 metres to the next wall the little Syd

Really? Everyone in the family assumed it was, You couldn't actually see the web but it sort of swung across a narrow are between two walls like something I'd never seen beforePretty sure Huntsman don't have webs. So no doubt you killed something worse![]()
From the Wiki: "As adults, huntsman spiders do not build webs, but hunt and forage for food". So I am not sure if that means as kid spiders they do?Really? Yea I'm not sure, it looked fairly grown, but then again I'm not 100% sure on how big a younger Huntsman looks size wise, if they even make webs. From the Wiki: "As adults, huntsman spiders do not build webs, but hunt and forage for food". So I am not sure if that means as kid spiders they do?
Get them in my garden all the time. Used to hate those things until a few weeks ago. Out mowing the lawn and I felt a sudden sting on the back of my neck, thinking it was a bee sting or something I swiped at the neck, off flew one of those bastards.Have a Golden orb spider that sets up its web on my back deck each night, probably around 10cm wide
looks like this

I think I copped a bite. Got a reddish lump a couple of days ago on my stomach that stings to the touch, but isn't crippling me with pain (and at this stage doesn't seem to be weeping or showing signs of infection, and I feel no nausea). Wondering perhaps if I copped a white tail bite, or even if it was just a garden spider. Should I head to the Doc, or try some antihistamines first?
What? It bit you now you like it?Get them in my garden all the time. Used to hate those things until a few weeks ago. Out mowing the lawn and I felt a sudden sting on the back of my neck, thinking it was a bee sting or something I swiped at the neck, off flew one of those bastards.
Started swelling up causing local sharp intense pain. Pain lasted only a few hours, was intense though. Felt nauseas the next day but that was it.
Only spiders I have a friendly peaceful relationship towards these days.
