i think he played a very good game , do you think he deserves another crack this week , i think he does .. i think he really showed something this sunday , what do you think if he plays another good game this week do you think thats enough to keep him on the list or not ? ..

Yeah, he did play well. Play him this week, but I still think he should be delisted. He's just far too inconsistent to be worht pursuing with.

i rekon if hes contracted to the end of 2007 then keep him if not im sorry sporn .. :( but the only thing im abit worried about is if we delist him and he ends up to be good ..perhaps pagan is playing him to get interest from other teams and we can use him as trade bait

Nobody else will take him and if they did he will never be a star for them. We are too romantic at Carlton, hold on to anyone who plays one good game for the season at the right time. I'm sorry ... where were you the last couple of years?

Fact of the matter is that several players have to go. I'm amazed that some believe that McGrath should go before Sporn. I recall Sporn's opponent waltzing into an open goal because Sporn didn't work hard enough to go with him. You can never fault McGrath's work ethic. I see someone smash somebody in a tackle and wonder 'wow, who was that?' The replay shows it to be McGrath who is hardly a toughnut. He does the team thing most of the time with the occasional brain fade.

Sporn will play this week, but ideally it will be his last Carlton game.

We have to delist players, and he is up their on many of our lists.

hey man relax i was just wondering what you guys would thought and by the way i didnt say delist McGrath .. i like the guy .. i was just wondering wheather you guys would still want sporn on the team ..

He's not the first to go, it just depends how much the club is willing to delist at years end. I would say that Chambers, Davies, Prenda, Livo, Longmuir and Teague all will go before him. Not sure on their contract status, but those would be my first choices (not in order), than it will be Sporn, Deluca and Saddington. Can't see Deluca going as Pagan seems to like him, and Saddington will probably be given another chance as he has played well in the past and if he can get over his injuries will be serviceable. The club will probably delist some rookies, but can't really see anyone else on our list being delisted. So, it all depends how many players the club is willing to delist. If its 6 of the senior list, than Sporn might be safe, if 7 than he could be gone.

What I think a lot of people don't realise is the struggle he has had to get his body right in the past. Yep, he's had his fair share of chances but lets look at the other side of the coin. Pagan has done him absolutely no favours by the way he's handled his development IMO. When he did give him some decent ground time he was played as a tagger constantly when that's just not the type of player he is. He's a running wingman, HFF, HBF and a ball carrier who has very good foot skills to deliver into the forward line (despite what some others carry on about him having ordinary skills- thats just not correct).

This year when he has had his chances he's been given 30, 40, 50 mins of the match and his stats at the end of the day might read, say 9 disposals. What many fail to appreciate is that he ususally gets half a game or less so if you double his possessions to reflect close to a whole game they usually come out to be 16, 18, 20. Take last Saturday for example, Pagan finally gives him some decent time and he racks up 17 quality possessions.

BTW, this is his last year of his contract.

I hope he does get traded to another club because he's got a lot to offer if he's given the opportunity to and not wasted like Pagan has. Love to see him stick it up the many doubters he has from the Blues because as he has shown, once he is injury free and gets a fair crack at it he's up to the job.

Played well yesterday. Did enough to keep his spot in the team.

Will be interesting to see what the club does with him. May have some trade value, but doubtful. The club should at least shop him around. I'm not sure whether we would delist him if trading proved unsuccessful, there are simply too many others to be delisted ahead of him. Davies, Prendergast, Livingston, Chambers, Longmuir, Teague (if uncontracted) and maybe Bannister or Bryan (doubtful about either) would be delisted ahead of him. May be too many to delist in the one year.

Agree with the first one - plenty of chances
Disagree with the second one - the reason why he has been given a run with role is because he misses targets (not alone there)
You left IF off this last bit. He has been injury prone at the wrong times in his career, maybe is a bit unlucky, but if the Dees would like a trade we would both be better off.

i would much rather keep sporn before saddington.

Agree with most Livo, Teague, Prendergast, Chambers -
probably Sporn and Longmuir (inj), delisted or trade (if any)
but still reckon Davies is worth a shot.

Has totally lost a year through back injury and last years suspension,
and as such, hasn't really had a chance this year, if he has played at all.

He can play and is still only 23, probably should be about to produce his best football - whatever that can be. Just reckon with other delistings he could be the 'project' player on his last chance who has to make every post a winner.

SPORN should not be given another game to prove himself. He has been given an ample amount of time to prove himself over the years and has only proven that he is not up to the standard required to be an AFL player. Delist him - it is time to move forward with some real alacrity.

the club have seemed to have alot! of faith in young sporn but as he becomes less young, definently could be used as trade bait, hopefully he playes a blinder against sydney

He has earnt a game for this week, play him and unless he gets 30 touches and 3 goals he will be delisted/traded.
