Essendon should look to trade for Spriggs from Geelong for Henneman. They lack tall key positions and have a surplus of midfielders. Spriggs only managed half a dozen games this season. He could not break back in to the team and looks sure to be squeezed out. He could be utilized by us to add to 50+ games of experience to our midfield and have his best years ahead of him.

I'd prefer Geelong to delist Spriggs as well, as long as Essendon also delists Henno.

I can't understand this fascination with Spriggs among a group of my fellow Bomber supporters.

We need pace and genuine skill in our midfield

If the trade is for a plank like Henneman then a guy like spriggs who would be decent (not the premier midfielder that we desperately need) player would slot in to the side. There aren't to many super players that clubs are willing to trade away for very little in return. The recruiting staff has done wonders in the past with some interesting trades, and to get rid of a player like Henneman (who is rubbish) and the secure a half decent player would be of value to us.

You have to remember that guys like Winderlich, Stanton, Dyson, Nash, Reynolds etc etc are all still green and with no more Misit and Mercuri now leaving an experience gap in the midfield. Here is a player who has about 60 senior AFL games over 4 seasons to his name and would help fill the gap while the others develop. It’s not always the gun players that make the difference in the side often its players 16-22.

Alvey will fill that gap. Alvey is a much better player than Spriggs, hopefully over his knee injury (mentally) he will be a good player in our midfield next season. Just let the boy play.

Spriggs - no thanks.

There is a question mark over Alvey and his future at the club. He may want to seek another club as he couldn't make the grade this season.

Alvey wouldnt look for another club..
Anyone remember one of the biggest reasons he wanted to come to the club?. To play with best mate Dean Solomon.
Alvey will no doubt be given a better chance next year, a knee reconstruction is a serious thing and he'll be able to do a full pre season this year.

where does this mis-guided faith come from. Alvey is an ordinary player. He has this season to impress or he should get the arse.

I think perhaps Haynes and alvey are best mates the way they strut around on the footy field. You have to be good before you can do that.

I had big hopes for Alvey this season, but he disappointed terribly. His efforts were at best cute, he isn't fast and sometimes you could tell he just doesn't have the will to make the contest ala McVeigh/Solomon/McPhee. Perhaps taking a leap out of there book might save his spot on the list because another season like that and he will get his marching orders.

Spriggs has pace but his disposal skill is average to say the least! wold need to work on that over summer and learn to put his head over the ball and not to be affraid of messing up his hair! but if he did come to essendon he would have some good role models to teach how to be tough at the ball!

Wasn't he averaging something like 20+ touches and over a goal a game before he got injured ?

how many good games did he play?? i know he was playing well when he got injured but he hadnt done a lot the season before and had only managed a shprt string of really good games before his injury.

The season before he got just on 400 disposals.

Spriggs did have a fairly good year in the VFL and some people say he was dealt with a little harshly. He would be odd's on to win our VFL B&F. His skills aren't silky but he's no David Clarke. He's main problem is he continually goes to ground and gets pushed off the ball.

I know the Cats were interested in Bolton but I'm not sure what will be left in our cap and what else we would have left to trade with after Ottens. I heard Bolton was on around 300K which is ridiculous.

No the bombers dont need Spriggs when you have Henneman and Alvey. Spriggs doesnt deserve to be in a wooden spoon team with those other players

Do bomber fans believe any of these wishful thinking trades? Bolton, Henneman? No one wants them

Spriggs? Who wants him. You trying to say theres something wrong with Alvey?, yes he had a bad year, didnt do a full pre season did he?.. Kinda had a knee reconstruction.
Whats spriggs excuse?
Essendon a wooden spoon team? looked final eight to me.. Pretty sure that was us in the 2nd round of the finals, where were your guys (tbh i dont even know who u barrack for)
