Disastrous jumpout for Slade Power at Flem today - apparently did not like the Australian barriers at all.

Trainer - 'wouldn't back him unless he is the last horse into the gates - he hates the barriers'.

Watched it then had to go back and watch Deep Field's.

There is footage of him hating life in there this morning, sat down in them and was really throwing the head around, to my eye was also very slow out when they opened.

Having said that he was only jumping out by himself so hard to tell if he was actually slow given there was nothing there to compare with.

It wasn't just to your eye. It sat there when they opened.

Where does it say on this board that threads need to be closed after the event by a certain time? Why can't they remain open for debate on the race? Why dont people have anything better to do with their time than to suggest closing threads?

This thread will be open until 11:59pm November 30th 2014, at which point in time spring will end and any discussion or debate on any races during the spring will cease, we can't have that happening around here, talking about races in a different season while another season is running.

Yeah that shits me as well, you can learn a hell of a lot more after the race than before it. Unfortunately the mods here are carnival punters mainly and don't really get that.

Deep Field is very talented no doubt, flew up the straight his morning but I won't be taking $1.50 about him on Saturday if he runs.

Unfortunately he is one that has had the boom on him since his 10 length debut so unlike a Lankan Rupee or even a Chatauqua at his last two starts we haven't got anywhere near a price where most people feel comfortable backing them.

Unless he is taking on Chatauqua $1.5 is generous.

He has a few lengths to catch up to Chatauqua, at this stage I much prefer Chatauquas racing style also as he is a relaxed type who goes through his gears without being put under any pressure whereas Deep Field looks as though he wants to get it all over and done with out of the gates, the on pace speedy type who might come undone racing in early speed battles but they are both exceptional sprinting talents.

For me there is a difference between taking odds that reflect the horses chances of winning & taking odds you are comfortable with, I'd say Deep Field is more than a 70% chance of winning the race he is nominated in carrying 54kgs based on what he has done to date but anything under $1.75 you can leave me out of.

There is a big investment required to return 4% @ $1.50 and it is a % I don't like to risk on one bet, they still lose 3.5 times out of 10 @ that price.

I never said I'd take him over Chat (this week!) But if you have him a 70% chance even based on what he's done rather than what he can do then surely 1.5 is extremely backable. It's good to have the likes of Duritz iluvparis Main Man sharing much more this year. Been very enjoyable

All my avatar's this spring have been anti-iluvparis, since i couldn't find a horse that Paris despises this week i figured why not Paris' most hated racing figure and reigning Melbourne Cup Champion trainer who will be without a runner this year.

Im thinking her son could very well be making an appearance next week as he is giving away $25 million for doing up your shoelaces, so easy….
