st Kilda does not have any disadvantages thus having no excues, been around for 150 years with all the talent coming out of Victoria
You are clueless if you think that St Kilda is not at a disadvantage in the Melbourne market.

big vic clubs

interstate clubs

small vic clubs

Us and north probably the two most disadvantaged clubs in the afl. But the afl gave north 5 first round draft picks

that’s on your club, you’ve had 150 years to become a “big club”

Also this notion of big clubs is flawed, Carlton and Essendon have been “big clubs” yet they’ve delivered absolutely nothing in 25 years

On topic - Kye Fincher will line up for Vic Metro against Western Australia in the U18 National Championships tomorrow. He had a big game a few weeks ago when they lost to a really strong South Australian side and Fincher had 26 disposals that day. He was named in the best 5 players on field that day. A few more strong performances in the National Championships over the next month and there's little doubt Fincher will be looked at as a consensus first round prospect in this year's draft.

If the Saints play this cleverly, they'll make sure they secure a pick early enough in the draft order to guarantee two first rounder players (Fincher + an earlier pick) join their list next season.

Find one decent ranking site and find fincher inside any top 30. Unlike GCS who have 3 inside the top 15. Sydney and Brisbane have multiple kids rated higher

Shit trolling is shit ya goose

I prefer to wait until the National Championships are complete. We can revisit in a few weeks when Fincher has played more than one game for Vic Metro. He's off to a good start, though. Probably the second or third best player for Vic Metro in that game against South Australia and SA are easily the best team this year so it wasn't easy to look good in a 61 point loss. Primed to have another good game against WA tomorrow.

I never made any claim of other players, just what Luke Hodge said about his son. You are putting words in my mouth.

Read what I wrote and come back to me. Only pointed out what was said.

Yes - and I’m saying it’s nonsense to think the son of Luke Hodge wouldn’t be playing footy if it weren’t for the academy.

Plenty of others were drafted prior to the advent of the academy, so why wouldn’t he?

If you don’t like it, feel free to hit up Mr Hodge. Having a go at me isn’t the way to go about it. Just makes you seem unhinged.

If 50% of the talent pool were QLD’ers, and we were benefitting from all the advantages that come with that, there would be an uproar.

And the opposite is occurring, and it’s crickets.

Go figure.

How are Brisbane suffering from most kids coming from Vic? You’ve had no issues with retention for almost a decade now. Sydney even longer.

Victorian clubs aren’t the only ones with access to these kids. Yet you guys get exclusive access to QLD kids.

There are players every year that Victorian clubs have exclusive access to via go-home factor.

Having a go at you? I’m sorry if politely disagreeing with an opinion of yours triggers you enough to make you feel attacked.

Care to point it out?

Not triggered, but you're arguing with the wrong person. Luke Hodge is clearly the one you want to argue with, he said what you have a problem with. All I did was point out what he said.

And you've definitely not been polite. You've tried to gaslight me by arguing points I didn't make, you want to argue with me as if I'm Hodge and pretty much all the posts you've made in this thread have an unneeded level of aggression to them, even this one. If you can't see it, that's probably a problem.

Right - and good players like Neale, Daniher and Cameron still find reasons to be traded to Bris.

Who have St Kilda, North and WB attracted of a similar ilk over the past decade?
Those clubs being incompetent and no one wanting to play for them is a separate issue.

All of them have picked off players from GWS and Gold Coast anyway.

And being a smaller victorian team doesn't seem to impact your team with poaching players.

Think it’s best you sit this one out if you are unable to have a civil discussion without perceiving aggression and being gaslit.

So when Bris goes through a bad period and players don’t want to go there - there’s inequalities in the system that need to be rectified through academies.

But when Brisbane are good and are attracting players and the others are bad and aren’t, they just need to work through their incompetence?
