St Kilda complain about priority draft access in Oct 2024; now set to gain priority access to a first / second round pick via their NGA access

Does adding more hahas make you feel like you are making a better point? You are fixating on an issue that has nothing to do with the argument, so keep laughing if it makes you feel better while completely missing the point.

Has nothing to do with the bombers woes. There are 14 teams in the AFL that dont operate as an afl franchise and get the free hits that the northern clubs do. It's not like Brisbane don't have the father son rule to tap into. North were ripped off by the AFL in having Blakey as an academy and not a father son. The academy that is to grow the game and put kids on an AFL pathway from an early age shouldn't apply to the son of a former player.
and none of anything you just said has any relevance to the bombers being one of the most irrelevant teams in the competition for over 2 decades, NGA is the biggest rort far greater than the academies which your club benefited from with kako but imagine if I came on here crying about how its so unfair not to mention the all the benefits the melbourne clubs receive

Draft and Trade better

Ok.

Stay in that little rut and argue whatever point you want.

Gold Coast were terrible today, Quick give them another 3 1st-round Draft picks

with all the Victorian advantages, you'd think we would dominate the top 8 every year.......

he can play, we need to find him a mate, shame Phillapou has had so many injuries the last 18 months
Phillipou looked like the one yep. Is he not back until next year? Windhager and Garcia are a solid base. The player I thought may break out Holmes-style as a run and gun midfielder was Wilson. It seems like he's stalled a bit?

In any case the midfield looks so much more dynamic with NWM, but then you miss his rebound from the backline. We are currently facing this a bit with Holmes, who was our whole backline running mechanism last year but is now required in midfield.

he might get a few at the tail end, but its essentially been a lost year

We like Garcia, he has a bit to work on still but he's progressing well
Windy has shown a bit this year in multiple positions which is nice.

Wilson, 2nd year blues? not sure we have used him well, seems a bit lost thrown from hff/wing. I'd throw him on the ball or maybe back to HBF to get him involved more, take over NWM's position.

That is St Kilda's problem. You get the bare minimum of the VFL advantages. Your direct competition in the VFL market - aside from maybe North - all enjoy the full suite. Especially the big 6 or so clubs.

Again, this is the Saints biggest problem. Their direct competitors are getting all of the talent people want. Saints get the scrap C graders or A graders they have to pay massive overs for.

Its focusing on 10% of the scenario this. The question is primarily around the advantages of Brisbane/Gold Coast have had as opposed to the very specific scenario that is St Kilda and their situation

All this thread appears to be is discussing St Kildas present and future while ignoring Brisbanes and Gold Coasts blatant advantage in the 2025 draft.

We know this because well the Brisbane fans in this thread have never attempted to talk about Brisbane and all they are interested in is deflection. Reason being is the question of "Is Daniel Annable getting chosen and giving up pick 15 only" a advantage has a obvious answer we want to ignore

St Kilda is the only club publicly claiming they can't compete and that academies need to be abolished.

If St Kilda's position in the VFL market is 10% of the 'scenario' for St Kilda, then academies are 0.1% of the problem for St Kilda.

Thats not true at all. Simon Garlick said it should be gotten rid of from Freo. Brad Scott has also mentioned it this year too.

St Kilda just the scapegoat because its unconfortable to talk about Fremantle given the state of their list

Simon garlick didnt complain about father son rule when he benefited from it at the bulldogs, just more selective bullshit

Isn't that the argument we are making. Your argument is selective as you know it benefits you and you guys specifically.. and you know the benefits exists which is why you are wanting it to continue

I was talking in regards to the father son, this is half the issue just lumping in academies with father son in a discussion is just ridiculous and makes 0 sense, and yes of course we benefit from academies just as we are disadvantaged by having a minimal percentage of of the draft pool coming out of queensland which before the academies was basically 0

Which is also a double edge sword for having minimal talent come out of a state, retention issues and then also no one coming back to queensland because there's barely any getting drafted in the first place

everyone has the same rules for father son so why complain about it

It's got nothing to do with each individual team as that's not the question asked

Question is does the academy and has the academy given you a advantage over other teams that they didn't have access too?

Rest is just avoidance from you

Because they don't have the same access?

Do you think Freo has same access as Collingwood with the games restrictions? You get that if 100 player have played the required games vs 1500 it's giving a benefit to the other team yeah ?

yes if you look at just that aspect of the draft , no if you look at the big picture, Archie Perkins didnt want to go interstate, so many dont want to go or are a flight risk after 2 years, we have to draft players that are prepared to move ie berry and mccluggage

yes Freo have been around now long enough to have 100+ game players that have had kids so thats on them

Only Gws and Gold Coast have that disadvantage

what are you talking about 1500?????? are you saying players from the 50's 60's 70's are still having kids wtf are you going on about, freo have the same ability as Collingwood

Well then

Do you think you have a advantage over Eagles/Freo/Adelaide/Port that they dont have access too ?

Do you also think that AFL giving you a free 1st rounder that you traded for Charlie Cameron played a big part in your current success? I mean Greg Swann did just come out and say Eagles shouldnt get a priority pick.... after Brisbane got a very importat one

Garlick mentioned a while back that Freo dont even have kids young enough to join the team yet... when at the same time you guys got Ashcroft x 2 and Fletcher because their kids are actually at the drafting age.... Peter Daicos is 63 years old. How many 63 year old Fremantle ex players do you think exist that qualify under the father/son rules?
