SUPER GAME on saturday, I thought I would take a look at our forward structure and do a lil bit of analysis on our last three games because they’ve been the games that we’ve been at arguably our best this season)

players included in my forward structure analysis:
Roo, Kosi, Schneider, Allen, Milney and C. Gardiner (who did not score anything)

KANGA Game:
Allen - 0.1
Kosi - 2.3
Milne - 4.2
Roo - 1.1

Total(forward line) - 7.7 (49)
Total(whole team) - 12.12 (84)
Total(forward line)/Total(whole team)= 58%

BLUES Game
Allen - 0.0
Kosi - 2.0
Milne – 5.0
Roo – 3.3

Total(forward line) – 10.3 (63)
Total(whole team) – 18.11(119)
Total(forward line)/Total(whole team)= 53%

HAWKS Game
Kosi – 1.1
Milne – 1.0
Roo – 6.0
Schneider – 2.0

Total(forward line) – 10.1 (61)
Total(whole team) – 18.11(119)
Total(forward line)/Total(whole team)= 51%

It’s good that we don’t rely on our forward line too much and our forward structure has given a good contribution for every one of our last three games. It does indeed seem the Ross Lyon has a structure at the moment.

However, I still have quite a few questions.
Can our forward line be expected to make about 10 goals between them every game and is this enough?

Is there any room for a fit Gehrig or continue with this structure?
Similarly, is there room for a fit M. Gardiner with Blake and Kosi seemingly doing alright as back-up for King?

Should Allen be given more games?

Can we make the top four?

I was at the game and there was a part of the game when the forward line was practically empty except for a mismatch with Milne and a tall Hawk. This has happened quite a bit over the last month but is this intentional?

Re: STK Foward Structure

yeh we can make the top four if we win all our games including collingwood or a few other resutls go our way. I'm more confident we will match collingwood than port who is a hoodoo team or ours. We got a good run.

I dont think we need to worry about fraser just yet. Still not fit to play. But I would think not right now. This is the same for gardnier, we seem to have got the right mix of players and positions than match their ability, which hopefully doesn't get messed with too much.

I'm all for giving the younger guys more game time. As you can see from mini macqualter that gone from getting limited game time, to being delsited, to been given a shot and hes made the most of it. It shows that with more game time our younger guys cam really shine.

I'm not sure that milne and the tall hawk was intentonal, however it did work well as the tall would often cleave milne to contest with rooy and kossy.

Re: STK Foward Structure

Getting some better contributions from the mids, with goals from Gram, Harvey, Hayes, Montagna, Jones, Sam F, Mini & Dempster recently, along with better kicking from Roo, goals from Kosi, Milne, Armitage, Schneider and Eddy as forwards and a boost from Blakey.

We still lose the structure (which discourages quick ball movement and long kicks into F50) when Kosi goes into the ruck, so something needs to change (either Gardiner in or BJ/Sam F need to go forward).

Dempster's role on Bateman was done very well and his tackle on Bateman in our forward 50 resulted in our first goal of the game. Reckon it was pretty important because if we didn't score by then we wud've been in real trouble.

Heard Kosis out this weekend, a chance for M. Gardiner or Allen to regain their place in the team.
