Was just looking at in on channel 10 news. Apparently the place generates most of its own power with heaps of solar panels on the roof. And has huge rain water tanks for keeping it nice. You also apparently sit much closer to the action than 'any other stadium'. Definitely seems to be state of the art.

Anyone know anything about how hard/soft the ground is going to be? Apparently you will be able to play cricket on it too. Hope it's not as hard as the Gabba, but oh well. It is what it is.

Carrara has historically had one of the best playing surfaces in the AFL. I'd be very surprised if they didn't use a drop-in pitch for the cricket. I haven't been on it for many years but it used to be an awesome surface. Firm yet soft to land on with excellent drainage.
Well seeing as this doesn't have a cricket pitch on it and the 'Gabba does, i think this will be softer...

Awesome looking stadium guys, you'll be the envy of WA and SA for sure.
Is there any reason that Gold Coast / Cararra went with the "Horse-shoe" design? Why didn't they built the grandstand all away around the stadium?
I know the Adelaide Oval upgrade is also going in the same direction, but this is for heritage reasons, ie: the old Adelaide Oval hill.

I would assume that it is to allow the expansion of the stadium to 40k if/when we get the commonwealth games rights and they will just close it in.

Love the huge signs on the floor. Just in case they forget who they are.
I don't even care anymore if we get smashed by 200 points this weekend. It's just going to feel awesome to be at our own home ground and watch our boys play on it. Very excited.

Can't wait until the Lions play away at that ground but I might go to one Suns home game this year to see what the stadium looks like from the inside (I've already seen it from the outside).
I believe the Suns will play their home games at the Gabba for at least the next 4 years.
