Great away win and I don't think we should underestimate Noah's performance today. The game was absolutely in the balance and Noah had been quiet, but he stepped up and grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck when we needed him to. That's what good leaders do and Noah's elite leadership was on full display today. In the end, Noz probably secured 3 Brownlow votes with his 30 disposal and 2 goal performance. Captain's performance today and we take a significant step closer to September action.

So we've won 5 of our last 6 games in Melbourne, which includes 3 wins in our last 4 games at Marvel. We're starting to correct that poor Marvel record now and that should continue later this year when we face Carlton down there.
Great win boys well done.
Well done recruiting staff another Sam Collins on the way. Young Adams looked very good on debut.
Looking very promising my friends

He was pathetic in the first, our midfield got smashed, 0 tackles while Rowell had 14 and he had 2 holding the balls while Merrett had 20
Mate he got scragged something shocking. Settlefield was trying to wrestle him at every stoppage and Durham did the same to Rowell. Not sure how it came across on TV but at the ground it was pretty rough to watch, he was fighting through it all game and as usual his epic work rate won out.

Yep and on tv the ball didn’t bounce his way either, but like I said before I have high standards. Anderson is top 3 player in the AFL, and he showed why in the second half.

Plenty of comments about my earlier comments so I want to address it. I always put my hand up if I’m wrong

Don’t backtrack
At the time it was appropriate

The Fiorini haters on this board must be furious right now:D
Dimmas gamble to rest Witter and Collo before next week has paid off nicely
Adams solid debut and Ned played well
I'm thinking Joel Jeffrey is on the whiteboard before about 15 others these days
And as for Uwland- much love

Just finished watching-was travelling during the game
Great win
Had to turn the sound down though
Didn't realise it was FoxFooty's work experience weekend with the Essendon cheer squad commentating
The giveaway was only knowing 6 of our players names
The last 2-3 minutes were worth listening to. Our cheer squad sang out the GOOOOOOOLLLLD COOOOOOOOAST chants. It was awesome to hear. I'm hoping we get the chance to do the same thing on Friday night.

The good
  • Won by 41 points in a game that was in the balance for much of the match. We've been the other team so many times over the past 5 years. To outwork and outclass a team in the last feels good!
  • Read and Walter continuing to build. We're 8-3 with Read in the side. Most marks in a game for Walter - that soaring contested mark for his goal was sweet as.
  • We nailed our set shots - wish Moyle kicked that last one!
  • Wittsy got a rest and Moyle did alright.
  • Flanders and Fiorini add a fair bit of composure around the middle.
  • Uwland showed again he can play above his height.
  • Adams looked right at home in his first game. His kicking was a nice surprise.

The indifferent
  • Mac seemed to get back a bit of intercept marking form which is great to see. The 2 mistakes that lead to goals are a bit frustrating and something that only Mac would do..in addition to switching off and allowing Caddy to wheel and blast that goal from 50m. Hopefully just with maturity he stops making mistakes like this.
  • Budarick. Obviously not a natural forward and at times this 'craft' that Hardwick spoke about didn't really seem there. The kick into the centre square after he marked on the wing seemed incredibly low percentage, a few dropped marks. In saying that 12 touches, a goal for the second week in a row. Applied a bit of pressure. I'm happy to continue giving him a bit of a go.
  • Rowell and Anderson got a bit of a touch up for most of the first 3qtrs. Although in the end their calibre shone through. Teams just going ultra-defensive against them, we need a different ploy if this happens. Starting Rowell at half forward in the 3rd quarter was good.

The bad
  • Holding the ball decisions - so inconsistent throughout the game. Both teams got bad calls given / not given. Makes it impossible for the players
  • The talk about Rowell's positioning and the umpire. You can see that the AFL are gearing up to suspend him to make a statement. I'd love to see the previous incidents that he has been fined for.
  • Weller injury scare. Thank goodness he seems ok.
