Aston Villa,
im a huge fan of this kid, shows plenty of heart and his performances last season, particulary in the latter half, were for mine severly underated. his kick is perhaps a little unpredictable but if he improves his skills as any young footballer should thru time he shuld be a great prospect....id love to see a stanton/dyson midfeild combo lift this year to the next level...any thoughts?

He is going to be a superstar in a few seasons. We have a super midfield. He wont need to be our saviour. We will win as a team and be up there all season.

His kicking isn't great, but at least he kicks it long. I've had a speculative bet on him for the Brownlow this year. Is a gun.

gee i think you guys are getting a little carried away here. He has only had one good season and he still what 19-20? a brownlow medal, i think is way to much of a build up he definitely is not in that category, yet.

I like to think of him in the jason akermanis class but his foot disposal has got to improve immensely before he gets to that stage. Jason took a good 7-8 years before a he produced a consistency that helped ripped teams apart. Sheeds will educate stanton like those stars before him so dont be surprised to see him placed in the backline more times then not, a common sheedy move (ala gary o'donell, gavin wanganeen, mark mcveigh and mark johnson). He'll probably learn is defensive skills there for two season and then mobed back into the midfield, then he will be a brownlow medal chance.

If anyone will win it from essendon this year it will be james hird, because umpires are so un-educated they only realise those who already have a name. Its a complete an utter dsigrace because no consistent forward or backman pick ups votes. the clubs best and fairest is the only one that counts

I can't understand why his kicking is still talked about as being bad. Early in his playing days it was average, maybe due to confidence, but most of last season his kicking was quite good. His passing was spot-on on a number of occasions with both left and right foot.

Agree with one person that he won't need to be our saviour in that our entire midfield in the future will share the work load. He will be the stand-out though, no doubt. Monfries will be close behind, different style of player.

Stanton got the most brownlow votes from an Essendon player last season. With 6.

I thought his kicking wasn't that bad actually. Action can look a little strange but always hits the target and kicked a few good goals.
Just curious, who do you think in 3 years will be better out of him and Dyson?

Stanton. I'm very confident he'll be a very good player. Dyson i really like, i just need to see a bit more to be convinced.

id say stanton, but im keen to see more of dyson this year b4 i make my mind up 100%....brownlow talk a little ambitious isnt it? maybe b&f...but brownlows go to afl superstars (as stated b4 with a 'name') if i was a bookie id make it interesting tho...give u 1-500 odds.....
