This trailer looks elite. I'm pretty pumped for it! Most of the animated stuff has been solid.

I didn't like that they bought him back at first, as the whole getting cut in half and surviving thing seemed absurd. But they did a solid job of explaining it away.

He's now in my top 3 or 4 antagonists in the franchise. He has so much anger and resentment it can border on the comical on occasion, but he's a great vehicle for exploring the early Imperial era underworld. Like how I thought Bad Batch did a good job of exploring the clones and wider imperial military build up and transition post ROTS.

Early box office estimates for The Mandalorian & Grogu are $70-$85 million, which is less than Solo.

That said, it may not be all doom and gloom. It's budget is around $150m, whereas Solo topped $300m, so it needs a lot less to turn a profit (Solo also cratered after its opening weekend). Star Wars has also generally been US leaning, but Grogu was something of a global phenomenon, so I do wonder if the international box office might be higher this time around. A lot probably depends on the quality of the movie and word of mouth at this point.

I had to double check the release date, it doesn't come out for another month. Not sure there is much stock to put into forward projections at this date, particularly in the middle of a war and cost of living crisis.

Not sure how they can make estimates this early but I'm not surprised.

They do it all the time, based on pre-sales and comparison. Obviously not infallible, but sometimes close to the mark given the wide-ish range provided. Tracking starts months before, Dune 3 has sold out IMAX session and it doesn't open for eight months.

Ok. What about a coccoon?

Think Mogwai --> Gremlin

I think you're missing the fact that he was already alive and kicking during Order 66 as shown in flashbacks and this show is set after that.

The Maul series is excellent. The animation is some of the best I've seen in ages.

I can't tell the difference between this, Bad Batch, Clone Wars, etc. What makes the animation so good for you?

I just like the darkness of it as it sets the tone. They had a scene where the light faded around Maul, leaving only his eyes in the darkness. Something about that gave me goosebumps. But I agree it is similar to Bad Batch.

The shading of colours is a lot more fuller, darker compared to the Clone Wars and previous.

Episode 3 in particular was spectacular in my opinion. The sound design of the voice acting and wielding of the lightsaber. The sound of the lightsaber slicing bodies sounds weighty. This feels like a live action.

Filoni is the creator in the credits. Maybe I am too harsh on him. Hopefully this new takeover role from Kathleen allows him to replicate his cartoon success.

Ah I knew a voice actor sounded familiar. Dennis Haysbert is goat.

I don't think filoni is actively involved, but could be wrong.

No one's criticising it in terms of wanting it to go away, they're criticising the quality.

So your position on AI slop is more of a quality one than an ethical one? At the point of it's progression it is no longer 'slop', you will be on board with it?

Not having a crack, just seeking clarification on your opinion, which seems uncommon.

I don't think the marketing will be anywhere close to any previous SW title either. Money saved there.
