It was a bad weekend for the red and blue teams around Australia.

Melbourne suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of West Coast in Perth, and today at the same venue the unbeaten Subiaco Lions thrashed the West Perth Falcons by 81-points to win the WAFL Grand Final. The controversial North Adelaide Roosters upset Norwood Redlegs in the SANFL Grand Final, while in the VFL the Casey Demons went down to the Box Hill Hawks, and the Dandenong Southern Stingrays overcame a shocking Grand Final jinx to beat the Oakleigh Chargers.

The Sydney Roosters must be nervous about facing the Melbourne Storm next week in the NRL Grand Final.

This is a teaser for a table that I will post after the Grand Final.

Carlton have played 5 grand finals on September 26 and won them all.
Collingwood have played 4 grand finals on September 24 and did not win any of them.
Collingwood have lost grand finals on every day between September 23 and October 2.

Tom Mitchell upon winning the Brownlow Medal last night becomes only the second Hawthorn player after Shane Crawford in 1999 to win the award in his own right.

All of Hawthorn's other Brownlow Medalists; Col Austen in 1949, Robert Dipierdomenico in 1986, John Platten in 1987 and Sam Mitchell in 2012 (retrospective medals to Mitchell & Richmond's Trent Cotchin after original winner Essendon's Jobe Watson stripped of award) have shared it with another player.

Since 2000, Carlton has won the wooden spoon 5 times.

In 2002, Collingwood played in the Grand Final, losing to Brisbane.

in 2005, West Coast played in the Grand Final, losing to Sydney.

In 2006, West Coast played in the Grand Final, beating Sydney.

In 2015, West Coast played in the Grand Final, losing to Hawthorn.

In 2018, West Coast is playing in the Grand Final, against Collingwood.
