Further to RTB's stats above, is the fact that five of the Tiger's eight wins happened in the relatively short window between Abletts at Geelong, starting R1 1 1997 where Gazza Sr played in the reserves, kicked 7 goals and stepped onto a footy ground for the last time as it turned out. Culminating in a huge Tiger win at Etihad in 2000 with Dragicevic playing his best match as a Tiger before his knee injury tragically curtailed his promising career.

Dustin Fletcher turned 39 today. Unless he plays on next year he won't play 400 games. This weekend he plays his 385th game and will be more than 2 years older than Tuck and KB were:

Youngest to 200 games

Tim Watson was the youngest player to play 50 games, 100 games and 150 games. At VFL Park in Round 3 (12-Apr-1986), he was just 24y 273d and played his 194th game, but suffered a severe knee injury that kept him out of football for the rest of the 1986 season and most of 1987.

If Tim had not suffered that knee injury he was on track to play his 200th game in Round 9 (24-May-1986) when he would have been a mere 25y 315d.

But it wasn't to be, and Alan Martello was to forever keep the record at 25y 360d. Alan himself was troubled by injuries late in his career as well as a contract dispute with Hawthorn, and he stumbled to 250 games five years later, retiring on 255 games.

Youngest to 400 games

Simon Madden will forever hold the record for playing the most games and retiring as a 34yo. Unfortunately his retirement came quickly in 1992 as he played only 3 of his last 18 possible games, and did not return for the 1993 season. He was on target to better Kevin Bartlett's 400 game record (36y 154d) by over one year.

Adrian McAdam debuted three weeks after Dustin Fletcher and played his last game 19 years ago, but has kicked 23 more goals than Fletcher. Dustin still chasing.

And Brent Harvey is only barely a 1996 player, his first and only game that year wasn't until Round 22. He managed just one handball.

If you include the 98 games at senior SANFL level 1981-1985, 19 games for the SA state team, 9 games for Australia in International Rules v Ireland, and 27 night series games, he played a total of 528 games at the highest level.

This season Port and Geelong have won all their 3rd and 1st qrts respectively. Best effort is Essendon in 1985 who lost the first qrt in Rd1, 1985, but didn't lose again for a 22-1-1 record.

Thought that was a bit interesting. I'm not sure who would be the last player to have kicked 10 more than twice? I thought Milne or LLoyed, but i'm not sure if either of them.
