Further to RTB's stats above, is the fact that five of the Tiger's eight wins happened in the relatively short window between Abletts at Geelong, starting R1 1 1997 where Gazza Sr played in the reserves, kicked 7 goals and stepped onto a footy ground for the last time as it turned out. Culminating in a huge Tiger win at Etihad in 2000 with Dragicevic playing his best match as a Tiger before his knee injury tragically curtailed his promising career.

With Gold Coast registering their first win at Docklands, I was curious to see what wins they are yet to achieve.
yet to defeat: Adelaide, Essendon, Fremantle, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney, West Coast
yet to win at: Adelaide Oval, Kardinia Park, Marrara Oval, SCG, Subiaco, York Park

Observed in Round 7 2014

Scoring still back in the 60s.

Largely due to Brisbane, wins in all 4 quarters are at 19th century levels.

A prevalence of behinds not seen since 1989.

Magpies’ best in half a century vs Blues.

Blues need spirit of ‘78 or better ‘45.

Hawks move up the multiplication table.

Saints consolidate historic status.

Port becomes one of only two.

A second time only event for the Giants.

Demons’ first still outscoring its last.

Swans conceding like they haven’t in over 60 years.

Lions digging the depths of their records.

Dons’ one in nine event.

Quite a few ‘firsts’ for the Suns.

Kangaroos in a situation only seen once in over 40 years.

A first for the Cats vs the Tigers.

Tigers second score is their last.

Dockers have been finishing better.

Eagles need a home ground where they know where the goals are.

Oldest to 385-400 games

Dustin Fletcher turned 39 today. Unless he plays on next year he won't play 400 games. This weekend he plays his 385th game and will be more than 2 years older than Tuck and KB were:

385 - Kevin Bartlett (36y 20d)
385 - Michael Tuck (36y 288d)
385 - Dustin Fletcher (39y 3d)

Youngest to 200 games

Tim Watson was the youngest player to play 50 games, 100 games and 150 games. At VFL Park in Round 3 (12-Apr-1986), he was just 24y 273d and played his 194th game, but suffered a severe knee injury that kept him out of football for the rest of the 1986 season and most of 1987.

If Tim had not suffered that knee injury he was on track to play his 200th game in Round 9 (24-May-1986) when he would have been a mere 25y 315d.

But it wasn't to be, and Alan Martello was to forever keep the record at 25y 360d. Alan himself was troubled by injuries late in his career as well as a contract dispute with Hawthorn, and he stumbled to 250 games five years later, retiring on 255 games.

Youngest to 400 games

Simon Madden will forever hold the record for playing the most games and retiring as a 34yo. Unfortunately his retirement came quickly in 1992 as he played only 3 of his last 18 possible games, and did not return for the 1993 season. He was on target to better Kevin Bartlett's 400 game record (36y 154d) by over one year.

378 - Simon Madden (34y 243d)
378 - Kevin Bartlett (35y 148d)
378 - Michael Tuck (36y 50d)
378 - Brent Harvey (36y 59d)
378 - Robert Harvey (36y 362d)
378 - Dustin Fletcher (38y 97d)

When he plays his next game, Dustin Fletcher will become the first 39yo to have played 200 games.

[Previous record - Ted Rowell (189 games)]

Dustin Fletcher played his first match in the same game as Andrew McKay played his second game (he debuted the week before). McKay played 244 games... and retired over a decade ago.

Adrian McAdam debuted three weeks after Dustin Fletcher and played his last game 19 years ago, but has kicked 23 more goals than Fletcher. Dustin still chasing.

Continuing the Dustin stats, he's outlasted every player to have debuted in 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1998.

Brad Johnson was the last of the 1994 clan, McLeod 1995, Junior and Dasher 1997 and Simon Black from 1998.

Those nicknames are a little obscure. To clarify: "Junior" (James MacDonald) and "Dasher" (Darren Milburn)

And Brent Harvey is only barely a 1996 player, his first and only game that year wasn't until Round 22. He managed just one handball.

in the first 3 games of this round, there was a 50's score, a 60's, a 70's, a 80's, a 90's, and a 100's
57, 65, 76, 88, 94, 107

Probably not unique, but I thought it was interesting.

Interesting side note - Craig Bradley retired on 375 VFL/AFL games at age 38y 291d.
If you include the 98 games at senior SANFL level 1981-1985, 19 games for the SA state team, 9 games for Australia in International Rules v Ireland, and 27 night series games, he played a total of 528 games at the highest level.

Today, Dustin Fletcher became the first ever player to win his 385th game.

The only games above 350 that no player has ever won: 389th
The only games above 350 that no player has ever lost: 390th, 402nd

And another thing I can see below is that every player bar Michael Tuck to have played 350 games lost their last game.

Screenshot 2014-05-10 23.11.32.png

This season Port and Geelong have won all their 3rd and 1st qrts respectively. Best effort is Essendon in 1985 who lost the first qrt in Rd1, 1985, but didn't lose again for a 22-1-1 record.

OTOH, North in 1946 lost all 19 3rd quarters (but managed to win eight games)

After 8 rounds, Freo are yet to play a bottom 8 side. They won't do so until Round 11.

Port's record at Adelaide Oval is now an impressive WWWWWWWWWL* (8 wins before 1st loss).

EDIT: * updated Port stat to Round 15, 2014.

Josh Kennedy is the only current player to have kicked 10 goals Twice.

Thought that was a bit interesting. I'm not sure who would be the last player to have kicked 10 more than twice? I thought Milne or LLoyed, but i'm not sure if either of them.

All bags of 10: http://footystats.freeservers.com/Footystats/Gls-all.html

EDIT: found some stuff @equiv_clearly

Milne did not kick 10+ goals twice. This is what I could find:
Lloyd (ret. R22 2009)
Gehrig (ret. R8 2008)
S Rocca (ret. R22 2006)
Carey (ret. R12 2004)
Salmon (ret. SF 2002)
Cummings (ret. R13 2002)
Lockett (ret. R12 2002)
Modra (ret. R15 2001)

EDIT: Riewoldt now has 2 bags of 10.
