Prior to 2016, the Bulldogs had never:
- won finals in consecutive weeks
- won 3 finals in a final series

They have now done both.

Most seasons winning 3 or 4 finals:
8 - Hawthorn
7 - Essendon
4 - Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, North Melbourne, Richmond
3 - Fitzroy, Brisbane
3 - West Coast
2 - Melbourne, Sydney
1 - Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs
0 - St Kilda, Gold Coast, GWS, University

Most games played in first 10 seasons:

230 - Adam Goodes
228 - Joel Selwood
226 - Craig Bradley
222 - Andrew Mackay, Jim Stynes
219 - John Platten, David King, Jarrad McVeigh

204* - Harry Taylor (plus 2017 games)
200* - Shane Woewodin (only played 9 seasons)

Bulldogs first club to qualify for grand final from 7th spot.
End of their run of 7 preliminary final failures.
First club to make it to grand final from an Elimination Final path since Melbourne in 1988.
This is fourth time it has happened in league history.
The other three times that team that made it from Elimination Final to grand final day lost by a new record losing margin.
It should be noted none of them had a bye just before the 4 weeks of finals start.
This has never happened before.

Disappointing prelim crowd for Giants v Bulldogs, wasn't even a ground record.

Spotless Stadium
(opened in 1998):
21,895: NRL record crowd (2-Canterbury Bulldogs v 1-Parramatta Eels, R23 2001)
21,790: AFL finals record crowd (GWS Giants v Western Bulldogs, PF 2016)
21,541: AFL H&A record crowd (6-GWS Giants v 2-Sydney Swans, R12 2016)
21,500: BBL record crowd (Sydney Thunder v Adelaide Strikers, 2015)
14,107: Olympic Baseball record crowd (USA v Cuba, 2000)
13,766: highest AFL H&A crowd that did not involve the Swans (6-GWS Giants v 5-Hawthorn, 2016)

NB: From 2016/17 to 2018/19, Spotless Stadium will host games for the A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers.

The losing score in both of the two Bulldogs grand finals was 7.9-51.

Neither the Swans nor the Bulldogs have won in front of a crowd of 100,000.

The Swans have never played in front of a Grand Final crowd of 100,000.

Swans:
104239 - highest finals crowd (SF 1970 v St Kilda)
99981 - highest GF crowd (GF 2016 v Western Bulldogs)
99683 - highest crowd for a win (GF 2012 v Hawthorn)
36554 - highest crowd for a win v Bulldogs (R21 2010)
25000 - highest crowd for a finals win v Bulldogs (SF 1942)

Bulldogs:
107935 - highest finals crowd (GF 1961 v Hawthorn)
107935 - highest GF crowd (GF 1961 v Hawthorn)
99981 - highest crowd for a win (GF 2016 v Sydney)
62432 - highest crowd for a win v Swans (QF 1997)

Record lowest total Brownlow votes for a team is perhaps under threat tomorrow night. Currently held by Melbourne with 16 votes in 2013, followed by GWS with 17 votes in the same year. My rough calculations have Brisbane on 17-18 this year, but it would only take one anomalous match to sneak under the bar.

Hopefully a good omen. The Sydney Swans were the NEAFL Minor Premiers but lost the Grand Final :)

Teams that had a bye the week prior to the Preliminary Final (Final 8) or Grand Final (Final 5):

AFL: Geelong, GWS Giants
VFL: Casey, Collingwood
SANFL: Eagles
WAFL: Subiaco
TSL: North Launceston
VWFL (women): Bendigo

All but Casey lost. However, while Casey did win the week after earning a week off, they then lost the GF (to Footscray).

Excluding Grand Finals, biggest TV audiences:

2.47 million | 1-Geelong | 92 | 6-Collingwood | 87 | PF 2007 | Fri 21-Sep-2007 | Att. 98,002
\2.39 million | 4-GWS Giants | 83 | 7-Western Bulldogs | 89 | PF 2016 | Sat 24-Sep-2016 | Att. 21,790
Thus, GWS v Bulldogs was the most watched AFL game for any match
- played outside Victoria
- that did not involve any of the top 3 clubs

Geelong 2013 lost WITH a score of 15.7.97 in the PF versus Hawthorn, and this season Geelong lost in the PF TO a score of 15.7.97 scored by Sydney.

Pending selection, Matthew Boyd will line up in his first grand final in his 282nd game.

I believe that this will make him the fifth most experienced grand final debutant ever.

Paul Roos played his first in game 314 and lost
Shane Crawford played his first in game 305 and won
Paul Williams played his first in game 294 and won
Matthew Pavlich played his first in game 291 and lost

This will end a bit of a trend.
7 of the top 9 most experienced players to never play a Grand Final played for the Bulldogs.
Quinlan, Johnson, Hawkins, Grant, Dempsey, Round and West.

The hoodoo continues, and the Swans have a 4-0 finals record over the Cats.

The Cats bad luck in even years also continues; only once, in 1952, has Geelong won the premiership.

The Swans now have a 3-0 finals record over the Cats at the MCG.

The two previous times this has happened, the Swans finished the season as runners-up, losing to Carlton in 1914 and Richmond in 1934.

The only time the Swans have won the premiership after beating Geelong in a final was 2005, when it won a semi final at the SCG before going on to break a 72 year premiership drought. Could this year be the end of a 62 year premiership drought for the Bulldogs?

Another omen for the Bulldogs is that Geelong finished 3rd after losing the Preliminary Final in 1954, while North Melbourne lost its only finals match that year.

The Bulldogs also became the first Victorian team to win 2 or more finals matches interstate in the same year. While West Coast, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney have all done this, no Victorian team had done so until the Bulldog's recent wins in Perth and Sydney.

Let's see what changes tonight.

Even if he doesn't poll a vote, Nat Fyfe (1.05 vpg) will keep his votes per game at 1.00. This will drop his below the great Haydn Bunton Sr (1.04).

Most Brownlow Medal votes:
246 - G Dempsey
215 - R Harvey
214 - G Ablett Jr
210 - C Judd
204 - S Mitchell
202 - L Matthews

Most Brownlow Medal votes (adjusted for 1/2 of double vote years):
218.5 - G Dempsey
215 - R Harvey
214 - G Ablett Jr
210 - C Judd
204 - S Mitchell

Most Brownlow Medal 3-votes:
46 - G Ablett Jr, Judd
45 - Dempsey, R Harvey
42 - S Mitchell

Most Brownlow Medal 1-votes:
32 - R Harvey
30 - S Mitchell, G Ablett Jr

Most games polling votes:

Another first for Western Bulldogs this season will be playing in 26 games in a season, eclipsing the 25 games they played in 1985, 1992, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Since 1972, when 26 games in a season became a possibility, these are all 26 game seasons by each team. Bold years indicate a premiership.

Adelaide 1997, 1998
Brisbane Lions 2003
Carlton 1972, 1982, 1999
Collingwood 1979, 1980, 1981, 1990, 2010
Essendon 1983
Geelong 1989, 1992, 1994
Hawthorn 1985, 1987, 2015
Melbourne 1988
North Melbourne 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 (27 games)
Richmond 1972, 1973
St Kilda 2010
South/Sydney 2005, 2016
West Coast 1990, 1991, 2006
Western Bulldogs 2016

Got 20 but as you pointed out would not have taken much to be some new record low.
Only 4 players on their entire list polled a Brownlow Vote tonight.
Has this ever happened before ?

New record. Previous low was 5 by Fitzroy in 1936 (including the winner, Dinny Ryan!) and GWS in 2013.

3 Brownlow votes and didn't poll in the coaches' award, 2010-16 (AFLCA = no. of players who received votes from the coaches):
