Re: Post your stats questions here

I was thinking about this before after I found out about the Aker incident, has there ever been a player to win four Premierships in their careers?
Tuck won seven.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Ahhk. Would alot of them happen to be Hawthorn players from the 70's, 80's and 90's and Collingwood players from the 20's and 30's??

All but four won all their flags at the one club. Of those, there were

14 Melbourne
13 Collingwood
12 Hawthorn
7 Carlton
5 Richmond
2 Essendon
1 Fitzroy

The others were

Mick Grace (2 Fi, 2 Ca)
Brent Crosswell (2 Ca, 2 NM)
Bryan Wood (3 Ri, 1 Es)
Martin Pike (1 NM, 3 Br)

Re: Post your stats questions here

I noticed that Essendon has 7 players who kicked 2 or more goals on Saturday night. Was wondering how this stacks up against the most multiple goalkickers in a game by one side in recent years (and all time I suppose).

Cheers Ron. Didn't think it was all that remarkable. Getting up to 9 is when it gets a bit rare it seems.

Re: Post your stats questions here

I’ve been looking at kicking efficiency lately and I found it really interesting that out of the top 10 leaders in kicks (Swan, Montagna, Chapman, Hodge, Enright, Gilbee, Griffin, Duffield, Gilbert, Gibbs) that Enright has the best efficiency with 74%. I always though Swan would lead this category as his kicks always hit targets, but his is only 61%. I found this out from a mate, who ordered a report from www.statsunlimited.com.au/shop

Re: Post your stats questions here

Can someone provide me with the average team possessions per quarter for as far back as there is data? That is, the average number of possessions for each quarter in 2010, in 2009, and so on?

Re: Post your stats questions here

What's the longest amount of time where both team has not scored in the first quarter?

Probably impossible to ascertain.

There has never been a first quarter where both teams failed to score.

There has been 1 where only 1 behind was scored (round 1, 1965 - Footscray 0.1-1 v Geelong 0.0.0) and 4 where each team scored only 1 behind and 2 where only 1 goal was scored which might be candidates, but nearly all of these are beyond living memory and a time where scoring progress during the quarter was seldom reported.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Hey guys,

I am trying to source team totals for inside 50's and contested footy.

This is something I would like to look at on a weekly basis but I am having trouble finding a good resource. For exmaple, Footywire will have player totals of inside 50's but only for those who have played at least 3 games. And not being team totals I have to go through and add them up.

Has anyone got any suggestions for resources for these two statistics?

Many thanks

Re: Post your stats questions here

My question is not as obscure as many posted here, I could look it up, but, well ...

I'm interested in teams that have made 4 grand finals in a row.

I know Collingwood went WWWW and Brisbane WWWL. What other instances have there been and how did the teams go? I'm interested to see how Geelong will compare, assuming they make the grand final this year.

Can also think of Hawks in the 80s, WLLW, LLWL, LWLW, WLWW.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Shouldn't be too hard to find out but I'd be interested to know-

- What is the highest number of games a player has played without getting a Brownlow vote?

- Which player holds the record for most games in a career without a Brownlow vote?

Re: Post your stats questions here

These seem to be the same question..

Most games without a vote
http://stats.rleague.com/afl/brownlow/brownlow_idx.html#3
Bear in mind this table represents games when it was actually possible to get a vote* - no finals, or seasons when it wasn't awarded.

Most games before actually getting one could be possibly be Merv Keane
http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/M/Merv_Keane.html

*Apparently Brownlow votes at one point weren't awarded when the round was affected by interstate matches. Does any have *actual* hard information on this i.e. which rounds in which years?

Thanks, actually you're right I phrased one of the questions wrongly. What I meant to say was what you have already answered, "what is the most number of games played before getting a Brownlow vote" should have been the first question. :thumbsu:

No published info but it's not too difficult to work out.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Similar to a question asked in another thread.

a) what are the 5 biggest losses by a team that went on to win the premiership?
b) what are the 5 biggest finals losses by a team that went on to win the premiership?

Re: Post your stats questions here

Heya fellas, trying to settle a drunken argument I had on the weekend that being Ben Johnson has a better kicking efficiency that Chris Judd.

I have found disposal efficiency (fyi, Judd 68.7% and Johnson 78.8%) however I would think that Judd's handballing would increase his efficiency and Johnsons lower his.

There is a carton riding on it, so anyone that can help me will be shouted an e-beer ;)
