Amazing that two 4/7 teams made the finals in 1995.

Fascinating to check the progress of Fitzroy in 1984. They were last after Round 9, 3-8 after Round 11, lost in Rounds 14, 15 and 16, yet still managed to make the finals.

Would Fitzroy hold the record for being in last position the latest in a season yet still making the finals?

And forget about Brisbane being 4-7 and making the finals in 1995. They lost their next 4 games to go 4-11 yet they still made the finals!!!!

1n 1997, Brisbane were 3rd last at 4-7 after 11 rounds, yet by Round 14, they were 7th and were in the top 4 the following week!!!!

Port Adelaide in 2005 are the only team in the list to register a win in the finals, smashing North Melbourne by 87 points.

Yes, discounting the unusual 1916 season in which Fitzroy sat in last place for all 12 h&a rounds!

Re: Post your stats questions here

Sydney defeated Richmond today 9.21 to 9.11.

How many teams have defeated their opposition by 10+ points, having kicked the same number of goals?

Re: Post your stats questions here

Number of times each team has won a match by 0 goals and 10 or more behinds and the year they last did it.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Ok, here is an opportunity for all you stats guys to plug your own websites.
I've been doing a bit of research on previous AFL Drafts and was wondering if there was a site which listed the players drafted ordered by each year, with essential stats like club, games and goals next to the player?

Something like AFL Tables but ordered by the draft selections. Specifically looking at 2001. I found Footywire, but that only shows the player, club drafted to and total games. Not really what I was looking for.

Cheers in advance guys :thumbsu:

Re: Post your stats questions here

Not sure if it's already been asked, but wanted to find out which player has kicked the most behinds in one match. Tried search, but couldn't get a definitive answer.
Has any one player kicked more behinds in a match than Lance Franklin's 11 against the Bulldogs?

In the VFL/AFL, Eddy James was reported in 1899 as having "over 20 shots" for a tally of 5 goals in Geelong's score of 16.23-119 v St Kilda 0.2-2.

There is no complete record of individual behind tallies since the VFL began.

As RR says, records are incomplete; I think the AFL's data prior to the 1960's is mostly compiled from Footy Records filled in by spectators. The AFL Record Season Guide attributes St.Kilda's Dave McNamara with 1.13 v Richmond in 1922, and Jack Titus with 2.12 against South Melbourne in 1939. Richmond's Tom Allen is officially credited with 0.11 (on debut, no less), although other sources give his return as 0.12.

Anyone? Roger? Ron?

Re: Post your stats questions here

Anyone? Roger? Ron?

Sorry mate, not aware of any site which has that data. The AFL Record Season Guide lists all draft selections plus club of origin, AFL games played following that draft, and total AFL games.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Gibbsy, I have an Excel file I downloaded (presumably from the AFL website as Col Hutchinson is named as it's author) a couple of years back. It covers all the drafts from 1986-2009 very thoroughly, with club, previous club, games played, games played this draft etc. It doesn't show goals scored and the games played details only cover up to 2007. I can certainly let you have it if you think it sounds worthwhile.

Sure mate, I'll PM you my email. Great to get help from another member, especially when they're a Pies supporter! :)

Re: Post your stats questions here

Huge turnaround from one week to the next by Melbourne - 88 point loss last week to an 89 point win this week. That's a 177 point difference - how does that compare to other records?

I know it's been posted elsewhere, but it's easier to re-post the top 10 than track it down.

204 Ha 1982 3/ 4 W 143 L 61

177 points ranks equal 43rd.
