No team has won four in a row with fewer scores.

The only team to lose four in a row with more scores is Melbourne 1977 R2-5.
...
The most consecutive games in which the winner had fewer scores is 5, both in 1960, by St.Kilda R2-6 and Essendon R6-10.

Thanks! Pretty interesting run too with those four games being four of the five such games played in total this year, and having come so close to having equaled the run of 5 consecutive games as well. Ah well, no prizes for nearly.

Which two clubs have had the most players play at least 1 game for each of them?

e.g. 47 players have played for both Hawthorn and St Kilda.

Some questions arising from the Adelaide v Fremantle "shootout" yesterday:

- previous game where the aggregate score was 85 points or less?
- previous game where a team won with a score of 51 points or less?
- previous game where both teams were goalless in the same quarter?

And for all three - the previous instance(s) not involving Ross Lyon?

- previous game where the aggregate score was 85 points or less?
2009 Rd. 5 - Melbourne 4.10 (34) vs. Adelaide 7.9 (51) - 85 points
Only twice this century has an aggregate final score been 85 points or less. 607 times it has happened (22 was the lowest ever).

- previous game where a team won with a score of 51 points or less?
2012 Rd. 4 - West Coast 5.21 (51) vs. Hawthorn 5.16 (46)
It's happened 4 times from 2010 onwards. 609 times a team has won with a score of 51 or less points (14 was the lowest ever).

- previous game where both teams were goalless in the same quarter?
2018 Rd. 17 - Fremantle (0.7) vs. Port Adelaide (0.0) - the 2nd quarter was goalless.

And for all three - the previous instance(s) not involving Ross Lyon?
Ross Lyon wasn't involved in the first two cases ^ but was in the third. The previous instance where both teams were goalless in the same quarter in a game not involving Ross Lyon was (the game mentioned in the post above this one):
2016 Rd. 6 - Carlton (0.6) vs. Essendon (0.3) - the 2nd quarter was goalless.

This week Collingwood plays traditional rivals Carlton in the traditional time slot of Saturday afternoon.

This will be Collingwood's first "week end" game after 4 consecutive weekday games - Bulldogs (Friday night), Brisbane (Thursday night), Essendon (Thursday Anzac Day) and Port Adelaide (Friday night).

The only recent comparison I can find is Richmond, who also played 4 consecutive weekday games (albeit over 2 seasons) - 2018 QF v Hawthorn (Thursday night), PF v Collingwood (Friday night), 2019 R1 v Carlton (Thursday night) and R2 v Collingwood (Thursday night).

Have any teams played 5 or more consecutive weekday games?

5 is the best I can see:
Carlton played 5 in 2012, with games on Friday, Thursday then 3 Friday games in a row (rd. 11-12 & 14-16 | rd. 13 they had a bye): https://afltables.com/afl/teams/carlton/allgames.html#2012

Collingwood ended 2004 with 4 Friday games and started 2005 with a Monday game: https://afltables.com/afl/teams/collingwood/allgames.html#2004

Essendon in 2001 had 5 in succession, with games on Friday, Friday, Thursday, Friday, Wednesday: https://afltables.com/afl/teams/essendon/allgames.html#2001

Hawthorn finished 2011 with 3 Friday games, and started 2012 with games on Friday and Monday: https://afltables.com/afl/teams/hawthorn/allgames.html#2011

Richmond ended 1999 with 2 Friday games and started 2000 with games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: https://afltables.com/afl/teams/richmond/allgames.html#1999

St Kilda's last game in 2005 was on a Friday, and they started 2006 with games on Thursday, Friday, Thursday and Monday: https://afltables.com/afl/teams/stkilda/allgames.html#2005

This made interesting reading as I didn't realise how many Thursday night games have been played, especially to start the season. While the Thursday night Richmond v Carlton clash has kicked off most seasons since 2008, the first Thursday night season opener was North Melbourne v Melbourne in 1997 (on Easter Thursday).

In fact, 1994 was the last season where Round 1 commenced on a Saturday (if you discount 2012 when the first Sydney v GWS clash was played a week earlier as a standalone Saturday game). In the 25 years since, Round 1 has commenced on a Wednesday (1 time), Thursday (15 times) and Friday (9 times).

What are the most games in which players have polled Brownlow votes in a season? In other words, I'm pretty sure nobody has ever polled votes in all 22 home and away games, so who would be the leaders in this respect?

Of course complete records do not exist, but have a look at https://afltables.com/afl/brownlow/brownlow_idx.html

Most Games Polled In (min. 13 games):
15 - Dangerfield (2016)
14 - Harvey (1998), Swan (2011), Martin (2017)
13 - Lord (1962), Judd (2004), Ablett (2009), Ablett* (2010), Priddis (2014), Priddis* (2015), Dangerfield* (2017)

* - did not win the Brownlow

Highest % Games Polled In (min 65% and 10 games polled in):
78.6% - Bunton (11/14 in 1932)
72.2% - Lord (13/18 in 1962)
70.6% - Smith (12/17 in 1967)
68.4% - Ablett (13/19 in 2009)
68.2% - Dangerfield (15/22 in 2016)
66.7% - Gleeson (10/15 in 1957), Swan (14/21 in 2011)

Well I've been keeping an eye on this for while, if you can't tell. Puopolo now on top with 176 / 176!

Re: Post your stats questions here

Yep, that looks like the winner.

2004 R8 - North Melbourne d Port Adelaide by 92 pts

Another decent loss:

1990 R20 - Hawthorn d Collingwood by 83pts

And of course a big one at the time:

1929 "Grand Final" - Richmond d Collingwood by 62 pts

Of course, under the system at the time, Minor Premiers Collingwood were allowed to challenge and won the "replay" and thus the premiership.

And for a laugh, if West Coast or Brisbane can win the flag this year, they'll "better" Port's record!
who can beat this?

2. Has there ever been a case of the eventual Premier losing a game by more than 100 points during the season? If not, which Premiership team holds the record for the biggest loss during the season and when was this?

3. What is the biggest turnaround by a team in one week? Hawthorn had an amazing turnaround back in the early 1991;

What is the highest score for a team without having a player kicking 1 or more goals, 2 or more goals ect... up to 10 or more since Ablett kicked 9 in the highest score ever?

That's magnificent RTB!

Goes to show Geelong like to share the goals around in a huge score at least. I was at the '157' game and didn't realise at the time nobody scored more than only 4 goals for Geelong.

Richmond defeated Collingwood in the Second Semi Final that year. It wasn't any kind of Grand Final. The following week, Richmond beat Carlton in the Final, which is the provisional 'Grand Final' that you were thinking of. Collingwood defeated Richmond in the actual Grand Final the next week.

Sounds as though Eddie McGuire made up the rules!

I'm still interested in this if anyone can help...

What are some of the highest hit-out aggregates where a ruckman from each team achieved at least 20 hit-outs in the same game?

Can someone please explain exactly what constitutes a centre bounce clearance? The definition on AFL website says it’s the “immediate area”. So am i right in saying it’s not necessarily the team or player that gets the ball outside the centre square in their direction? Apologies if already posted or in wrong area.
