Brenton Sanderson kicked just 34 goals in his 14 year career, but never had a goalless season. I wonder what the record is for

* played N years
* never had a season without kicking at least one goal
* fewest total career goals

What’s the biggest age gap between players who were coached by the same person?

Further, what’s the top 20 biggest age gaps?

What I meant was the biggest gaps between players’ dates of birth?

Ah, that's not very intuitive. The list will be skewed towards long-serving coaches.

I'm surprised at the Hudson-Houlihan connection and Kickett-Scrimshaw one.

Thank you RTB.

This week's grand final will contain many Richmond players who have played in a premiership, as well as, I think, five Geelong players. Which grand finals have contained the most premiership players? Essendon vs Hawthorn in 1985 would have to be a contender. To clarify: the 1984 grand final would probably not rank because none of the Essendon players were premiership players until the final siren sounded.

Maybe the Hawthorn/North Melbourne Grand Final of 1978, given Hawks won 1976 and North 1975/77?

Didn't know where to put this but, what SANFL clubs were allocated to Port Adelaide and Adelaide before PA became strictly the PA magoo's and Adelaide's magoo's debut circa 2014?

Also, what WAFL clubs were allocated to West Coast and Fremantle?

TYIA.

From 2002-12 in the WAFL, players from other states were shared amongst the nine WAFL clubs. Generally the poorer performed clubs [Peel and Perth mainly] got extra players and sometimes first go at their choice of a draftee. I'm not sure if there was any more choice or nuance each club had in the matter.

There were previous alignment arrangements, Fremantle and South Freo in 1999 and East Perth-West Coast arrangement for a few years late nineties to early this century [maybe 99-01/02]. I'm not sure if any clubs had alignments before that.

Currently Peel Thunder is Freo's aligned team [since 2014] and West Coast had East Perth 2014-18 and West Coast Reserves in 2019. Both Peel and East Perth had the non-WA players in 2013 as a partial alignment but all players 2014 onwards.

No one was allocated to either club.

If either club drafted someone with a connection to an SANFL club (either drafted directly, or a player returning home), they stay with that sanfl club alignment
While any player drafted from interstate went into a mini-draft and teams in the league select players in reverse ladder order.

I just found the 2010 mini-draft results.

2010 SANFL MINI-DRAFT

1. South Adelaide: Cameron O'Shea (Power) - 3rd Round draft pick

2. Port Magpies: Ben Jacobs (Power) - 1st Round draft pick

3. North Adelaide: Aaron Young (Power) - 2nd Round draft pick

4. West Adelaide: Ben Newton (Power) - 2nd Round draft pick

5. Sturt: Richard Tambling (Adelaide) - Traded from Richmond

6. Glenelg: Jarryd Lyons (Adelaide) - 4th Round draft pick

7. Woodville-West Torrens: Jarrad Irons (Power) - 3rd Round rookie draft pick

So Port Adelaide's non SA draftees were picked by:

PA.
SA.
NA.
WA.
WWT.

While that left Adelaide with:

NOR.
STU.
GLEN.
CD.

Would that have always been the case?
No, anyone could play for anyone

At one point North Adelaide's backline was Tony Armstrong, Rory Sloane, Nick Gill, Greg Gallman and I'm pretty sure 1 other Crows player.

More asking along the lines of which non WA recruits were recruited to which WAFL clubs and SANFL likewise?
If drafted by Fremantle until 2012: shared amongst the nine WAFL clubs [excluding 1999]. As with the SANFL, you could end at any club. Most of West Coast's existence the same with the occasional formal alignment.

Looking at the 2010 draft:
FRE: Jayden Pitt -Perth, Viv Michie- Peel, Josh Mellington- West Perth, Michael Barlow- Peel, Alex Silvagni- Claremont, Jack Anthony- Subiaco, Gavin Roberts- Perth, Ben Bucovaz- East Fremantle
WCE: Andrew Gaff- South Fremantle, Scott Lycett- Peel

Kevin Bartlett kicked 778 goals without a bag of 10. I'm assuming this is the highest?

Who has the most goals without kicking a bag of 9? 8? And so forth..

This week WAFL club Claremont Tigers appointed former Richmond and Fremantle player Ashley Prescott as their senior coach for 2021. Prescott previously coached Claremont from 2004-2007, returning an amazing 13 years after his last coaching tenure at this club. Obviously the world is a very different place now from what it was back then.

At AFL/VFL level, does anyone know of any cases of coaches who returned for a second tenure at a club so many years after the first, or any other similar examples in the SANFL, VFL/VFA or WAFL?

AFLW player Jamie Stanton has played for three clubs during their debut season in the competition - Brisbane (2017), North Melbourne (2019) and Gold Coast (2020). Have any other AFLW or AFL players matched this?

The only AFL player I could find close to this was Mark Mickan, who played in the debut season for the Brisbane Bears in 1987 and the Adelaide Crows in 1991.

Bob Rose coached Collingwood from 1964-71, then returned in 1985, before handing over to Leigh Matthews early in ‘86. He also had a stint at Footscray in the early - mid ‘70s.

And before Rose was John Cahill who had 13 years between V/AFL jobs, finishing at Collingwood in 84 and coaching Port Adelaide in 97. Not the same club, but like Prescott a long gap between coaching in the same competition.

Not quite the same, but Bill Stephen had three separate stints as coach of Fitzroy with almost a decade in between each, 1955-57, 1965-70, and finally from 1979-80.
